Hospitality 101: Patrons attend a venue for the experience so listen up. If you're not going to provide an adequate experience for a sporting event then don't bother. It's clear your only interest is in one-time attendees to buy drinks and food but no consideration towards the experience for return customers. If you're not going to host an event properly, DON'T HOST IT and risk disappointing the attendees, it's straight bad business sense.
Have been a regular attendee to events at your premesis but recently you hosted a title fight in boxing (in a low-lit Bistro, WTF?) which on your website specified will be displayed on 3 x big screens. Well upon arrival you have 2 x screens shared with a regular AFL match like it's an anyday walk-in, which was fine enough, people had adjusted by gathering to the left side of the room. At round 4 (it's just getting good) you switch the left screen to NRL, leaving the only the middle screen for a significant boxing event wedged in between 2 football games with no space between the screens which totally undermined a significant event; let me make it clear that the moment you switched the screen everyone's head swivelled to the boxing in the middle, no one in that room was there for NRL - you have that in the sports bar. Furthermore, people have already chosen tables and ordered food based on where the event was showing, but then the change of the big screen left a few people shafted out of view. Straight up just no forethought to the situation nor consideration for the customers. Additionally, in the sports bar, the screens are already 90% NRL with 1 tiny courtesy screen of the title fight in the corner for 4 people to watch. You can have a NRL event, you can have a boxing event, but don't dilute the experience of each of them just so you can make more menu sales; people won't come back. Anyone could watch footy or boxing at home, but people arrive at a venue for an experience which you simply failed to provide based on negligence and greed - it's not on. In the Bistro you've disappointed NRL fans, although you had indeed clearly prioritised a space for them in the sports bar, but you have very much disappointed the boxing fans who by the way, all left you with an empty Bistro the moment the fight was over. If you don't care, don't put on the event. It's as simple as that. People can go elsewhere but consider your false advertising when your website says it will be displayed on 3 big screens not 1 in an ambient dining area with kids. Either go full NRL or full boxing, or give them dedicated rooms as you pretty much already had for NRL. DO IT PROPERLY OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL. Hospitality 101: It's about experience. Get it together. Stop doing sport events if you don't care for them, people will go somewhere else and get what they showed up for. Don't pretend to care; that's just being greedy for punters to buy stuff. Sort it out if you have any integrity for what matters and return customers. I now know to expect a diluted and mediocore experience from your sporting events.
With respect it's a small adjustment, but a big impact on patrons, or better said; neglience cultivates a powerful negative impact to your establishment which could've been prevented and correctly addressed. Note: Two of your staff were spoken to on this matter the moment you changed the screen in middle of the event. Explanations were provided in good form, no foul words or ill will but the issue was ignored because NRL is on. Again: If you're not going to put it on properly, don't put it on - then people know to get their experience...
Read moreLast night, we hosted my husband's 40th surprise birthday party at Sunnybank Tavern, and I cannot express enough how incredibly perfect the evening turned out to be! From the moment we stepped inside the venue, we knew we were in for a treat.
First and foremost, the staff, led by the ever-charming Michael, was simply outstanding. They truly went above and beyond to make the party a resounding success. Michael's enthusiasm and attention to detail made the planning process smooth sailing. He ensured that every aspect of the surprise was kept under wraps, and his passion for customer service shone through every interaction.
The night's magic would not have been possible without the amazing team of staff. They were attentive, friendly, and incredibly efficient throughout the entire event. No request was too big or small for them, and they made sure that each guest felt welcomed and pampered. Their positive energy and genuine smiles created a warm and inviting atmosphere, making everyone feel right at home.
And let's talk about the food! The culinary delights served at Sunnybank Tavern were nothing short of exceptional. The menu boasted a diverse range of delectable dishes that catered to every palate. From delectable appetizers to savory main courses, each dish was expertly prepared, beautifully presented, and left us craving more. The surprise itself was executed flawlessly, thanks to Michael's expertise and the staff's coordination. My husband was genuinely taken aback, and his joy was shared by all our guests. The entire evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and cherished memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.
I can't stress enough how grateful we are to Sunnybank Tavern, Michael, and the entire staff for making my husband's 40th birthday party an extraordinary event. With 3 out of 4 corners on the intersection of Mains Rd & McCullough St in Sunnybank being chock full of Asian dining options, Sunnybank Hotel sticks out as a non-Asian beacon on the 4th corner.
I've only ever been here very occasionally and this time was a dinner of some typical pub food: Aussie burger, $25.50 - beef pattie, tomato, beetroot, caramelised onion, lettuce, cheese, BBQ sauce add extra sweet potato chips, $3.50 chicken schnitzel, $23 - with choice of 2 sides (chips, seasonal vegetables) kids fish, $13 - with choice of sides (chips & salad), drink (lemonade), and ice cream sauce (caramel)
I made a booking but there were no staff to greet or seat us upon entry so I went to track one down, whereupon we were directed to our table. No physical menus were provided though I think some are available if you ask. Ordering at the table via QR code incurs a credit card processing fee of 1.5% - not sure if that also applies if you order at the counter. No water is offered or provided but can be requested at the bar. Overall I found the service somewhat distant, though functional.
The wall we were sitting in front of had 3 screens full of sports action going on. I had the worst view though (back to the wall) so didn't really catch any of it. If you like to watch sports with your meal make sure to book/request a table with a better view.
Food wise we were all pretty happy with our meals, though the boy was hoping for more fish in his. Overall it's a decent alternative if you're wanting something non-Asian in the unofficial Chinatown...
