Grill’d Newmarket — A Disappointing Experience That Should Concern the Franchise
Dropped into Grill’d Newmarket today, hoping for a solid lunch and a little care. What followed was a letdown.
The wait was longer than usual—not a dealbreaker, if the food had landed. But when the burgers arrived, the patties were lukewarm. The chips looked like they’d been benched too long—dry, limp, and cold. I took them back, and to their credit, they remade them. The second batch was piping hot and actually decent.
Back at the table, I started on the Chilli burger. Flavour-wise, it had promise—but again, lukewarm. I mentioned it to the waitress. Blank look. No apology, no explanation—just turned and walked off. I even said I’d be leaving a review. No reaction. No curiosity. No care.
And then there was the state of the place. I picked up my wine glass and nearly lifted the table with it—sticky enough to glue down furniture. As the sun hit the other tables, the grime showed itself. Not just a missed wipe-down. It looked like days of neglect.
No one came to check in. No one asked how the meal was. The wooden stick in the pot—the one meant to be flipped when a customer’s happy—sat untouched. It stayed red. So did the feeling.
We were already 30 steps out the door before someone finally looked over and muttered “thanks for coming.” It felt like an afterthought, not hospitality.
The burger had potential. But the service, the cleanliness, the care—it wasn’t there. If this location is run by a franchisee, Grill’d as a brand should be seriously concerned.
And now I wait for the standard review response—the one that asks me to contact them directly, as if the problem isn’t already clear. I just did that. It’s your turn to investigate and fix what’s festering in your store. Sending your team to the Toowoomba location would be a smart move. That operation? Sweet.
Pair me up with good food that’s hot when it arrives—not just tasty in theory. with a clean table, a glass that lifts, and a space that respects the customer. with service that notices, listens, and cares. with a farewell that feels like someone meant it. with a flag that’s turned—not ignored. with a meal worth remembering—not one I had to rewrite to...
Read moreWorst Grill’d in Brisbane!! I live near by so it’s convenient and I want them to be better for this selfish reason!
The primary reason I am giving them this review is I have written an internal complaint multiple times and never hear a thing.
I have spoken directly with staff about the mistakes they couldn’t care. Then spoke to management couldn’t care less either.
They have a 100% strike rate stuffing up the orders or leaving items out. The last three times I have been recently they have stuffed up or not had items available on the menu?
The most notable was they had no bread rolls except GF which was fine but then proceeded to charge all customers including us full GF prices or they said not to order and were rude about it? Who runs out of bread rolls at 7.30pm on a Saturday night?
Next time they left one of my kids orders out of the pick up I got home before I realised. I drove back to let them know they gave me the order that they left sitting there cold as cold and said that was it! No apology I said are you for real you are honestly giving me this as the fix to your error they said yes have a good night!! I blew up and they begrudgingly remade it, totally bizarre.
Tonight on the third strike no HFC bites 6pm on Saturday night I don’t know who’s running the show there however they need to get there act together.
Just when I thought they had partly redeemed themselves tonight and were semi courteous dispite having no bites I get home to eat my Summer sunset and it’s a chicken burger it’s laughable
Based on my interaction with the staff shift Managers and Grill’d as a business this particular outlet seems no one cares and it’s a burden to both run the business and have to deal with customers.
I know it’s tough to get staff but come on surely they could get it right at some stage or at least...
Read moreNegative reviews below are bang on. This is by far the worst Griil'd we've ever been to in Australia. Arrived for a late lunch on Sunday. Food scraps and rubbish all over the floor inside and out. A bin chicken was romping around eating the scraps, walking all over the tables. Staff couldn't care less. Grossed out but we ordered food anyway. First lot of food came but there were no knives or napkins on the table. Noticed most of the tables didn't have them. My wife asked the waitress for these; waitress seemed confused that we would want cutlery or napkins. She never came back. Burgers arrived, asked different waitress for napkins and knives. After a minute waiting I got napkins off another table myself. Waitress eventually brought knives, but no napkins. Hopeless. The place was filthy and we couldn't wait to leave. For context, they had loads of staff working, just that none of them had the slightest interest in doing their jobs. Seemed put out by customers. Store owner should be ashamed. Only saving grace was the burgers and chips we're ok. Contrast this to the Grill'd at Cannon Hill - clean, friendly service, excellent quality burgers. Do yourself a favour and eat anywhere else but...
