My husband + I have been Sunday regulars here for at least 6-8 months. I have positives to share & negatives - (though I wish it was not so). We're regulars for a reason! We love the food! We love the atmosphere. Prices are really fair, there is always a table free & we love that they do freshly squeezed orange juices! Husband & I are big meat eaters & LOVE that they have a "2 person meat board". It's our favourite! Unfortunately, we had a not-so-great experience recently (and it's our first one with this cafe). Last Sunday 2nd Feb, we dined in as per usual after Church, & were served by an older lady. We found her to be quite abrupt in informing us they are "only serving all day brekky/lunch items". We have ordered the "meat board" many, many times, & it's never been a problem. As this item is in the "shared meals/plates" section of their menu, we thought it must not be classed as "Dinner", so we tried to order it again like we have many times before, thinking nothing of it. She replied with a frustrated tone at us, flipping the menu back over to the breakfast side & abruptly told us they are NOT doing dinner options. We queried why we were able to order this meal every other time we have been here. She told us that should NOT be happening & asked me to point out what waitress let's us order that meal. I am not comfortable "outing" waitresses, nor do I think it is appropriate to ask that of a customer. I told this lady that many people have served us & taken this order from us. She was not happy, & said she will be "informing her girls" to NOT let customers order from the "dinner menu". I told her I didn't realise it was a dinner meal, as it is in the "shared plates/meals" section of the menu. Basically, she was quite abrupt, rude, & completely ruined our dining experience to the point where we did not want to stay. We ended up going to Degani to get our takeaway coffee to take home (after we'd finished eating here) & we will be going to Degani for our Sunday meal tomorrow, too. We have always liked this cafe, but this experience very much rocked us. This is no way to treat regular customers. We aren't to know what meal is allowed & what meals are not allowed, we are just customers. You should not be asking customers to point out & "out" other waitresses as well. The body language, eye rolling + frustrations towards us from this older lady waitress was just not OK. We now know that the meat board is "strictly" a dinner meal & considering our treatment last time as regular customers, we don't really feel welcome back. We were told this lady was the "assistant manager".... If this is true, then I believe she needs more training on good customer service/ how to treat customers. That's all I'll say. It's a huge shame for us to have had this experience here. Four stars because I still believe this is a great cafe & one ladies behaviour should not be a reason people don't check...

1 star for the experience. Originally gave an additional star for the average food and because I understand hospitality is not easy. Came here on a Sunday lunch, placed our orders at 12:45pm. Our group of 8 patiently waited for 35 minutes before wondering where our food was when the place wasn't even busy - only 3 other tables with half the cafe empty. Upon asking the waitress, we were advised our food was coming out in 5 minutes with no additional explanation or apology. After waiting 15 more minutes I had to get up to ask again and to seek an explanation for the delay. Grand total of 50-55mins between placing order and our food arriving.
We were then told that after placing the order, there was a printer roll error in the kitchen so the orders weren't printed out. I understand these things happen and it's not entirely the staff's fault.
However - management definitely need to get their act together and train their staff to communicate as a team.
Frontline staff should be checking in with the kitchen and vice versa to confirm orders are coming out. Learn to be a team. Upon realising that orders are delayed, staff should be trained to proactively explain the situation to patrons, apologise for the delay and perhaps offer complimentary snacks or drinks while customers are waiting. Staff should be given delegated authority to offer some sort of compensation or refund proactively - not "here's our management's email" please email or call back tomorrow. The junior staff we first spoke with should not have to figure out the above on her own. There should be someone in a more senior or supervisor role who can take initiative and lead the team if "management" is not there on the day.
None of the above occurred for a very sour first and final dining experience here. We will not be back even though we were eventually given a partial refund (upon request). I would strongly recommend Degani in the same shopping centre for better food and better service. To the owners/management - please learn to train...
Read moreWe visited L'Oasis after reading lots of glowing reviews, but found our experience to be pretty disappointing. The Cafe was about 1/3 full and the two people out front seemed to be struggling a bit when we arrived, so we got our own menus and when it looked like the young gent running tables wasn't going to get to us for a while due to a line at the till, I just went up to wait in that queue to order.
Our food was cooked quite quickly but it couldn't be brought out to us for a while as there was still a line up at the till. Eventually the kitchen staff kindly brought it out and were very polite and helpful. The food would have been really nice if it was still warm, which it wasn't. Also it transpires that there are two burgers both called the L'Oasis Burger - we had wanted the breakfast version.
When we received the wrong burger, my partner went in to let them know - at which point the lady making the coffees rolled her eyes and muttered "oh here we go." The replacement burger came out very quickly and was tasty. When we were done eating we had been there roughly 35 minutes, a coffee had just been delivered and we were still waiting on a green smoothie.
I'm usually not one to waste food but the smoothie consisted of mostly milk, possibly a few green leaves and some large chunks of banana with a liquidy/chunky texture that was making my stomach upset so I couldn't drink it all.
In spite of the slow service and cold eggs benny it would still have been an okay experience if not for the snarky attitude of the person making the coffee - and also realising we'd been overcharged because of the burger mix up. We cut our...
