First visit to Sweet Shine in Calamvale Central for a fix of Taiwanese food.
We ordered: no.13 salt & pepper chicken fillet with rice set meal (椒鹽鶏排飯), $14.50 no.9 tomato pork and egg fried rice (番茄肉絲蛋炒飯), $12.50
I had barely sat down before the first meal was served (out in under 5 minutes). The other dish came out about 5 minutes later. It wasn’t that busy at the time but still that’s pretty quick service. Guess that helps with the 90-minute dining limit on weekends.
The food portions are pretty generous and I was impressed by the size of the chicken fillet in my dish. Flavours wise I found it on par for Taiwanese food expectations so I think it delivers good value for what it is. Would be happy to return to try some other dishes when I’m next in the area.
Notes: the main menu is mostly rice-based meals (19 items), some noodles (5 items), and a range of Taiwanese snacks (12 items) and soups (3 items) there’s a separate list of some vegetarian-ready meal options (ones that are already, or can be readily made so) there are a couple of dessert options too, though if you want more maybe try (the I think related shop) Sugar Sweet Station in Sunnybank Plaza set meals have the option of adding $2 for a choice of: hot and sour soup, black tea, green tea, wintermelon tea, or Alishan tea the store sells its own range of drinks (teas), but there’s also a pretty decent BBT store right next door... 1.5% EFTPOS surcharge, nice and clearly signed at the (ordering and) payment counter meal times limited to 90 minutes on Fridays-Sundays all seating is inside the (air-conditioned)...
Read moreAs a Taiwanese, this restaurant is really not good at all... not just the food but also the customer service. I gave this place 3 chances but every time I go its just disappointing. I understand if the food is not my favourite, everyone might be different, but couple weeks ago I called and ordered 2 fried-rice to pick up, the lady over the phone didn't have the best attitude, moreover, when i arrived and got inside the store, no greetings and the waitress just stood there, as I said I was there to pick-up an order, she gave me a bad attitude with no smile, and just turned and went inside the kitchen, when I said thank you she did't even say anything.
I don't understand, Taiwan is a country that cares a lot about customer service, just because you are in a different country doesn't mean you are not Taiwanese, where's the spirit? very disappointed and I will...
Read moreJust had a very unbelievable bad experience. Friends chose this place for dinner. We came and ordered at 7:15pm. No one told us the store will close at 7:45pm. During dinner, no one came and told us the store will close at 7:45pm. Then a guy or a boy-look lady rushed out and asked us to leave, in a very rude way. I haven’t finished my dinner, but still stopped eating. This people was so rude. So I told this person: don’t be so rude! However this person came back again and pointed at me and said: you should Google and don’t speak like this time. My friends and I were so shock and complains. Another lady came out and kept saying “thank you”.
I will never go back this restaurants, neither my friends. I think this is why this restaurant only gets 3.8 ratings. Food is one thing, but attitude doing business is...
