Metro Chicken — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Dear Diary.. So today I decided I felt like a chicken burger for lunch, so I hopped in the old hooptywagon and putted around a few blocks to Big Jim's Takeaway up on Boundary Rd. Oh snap, that big sunnuva shrink isn't open on Mondays.. Whatever, it's all good, I'll just roll down the hill to the Bakery or something. What's this then? A chicken place? Well, it doesn't look anything like Big Jims, but It'll have to do for today. Deluxe Burger you say? Sounds magtruckingnificent. Alright. Not so.. Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

I probably should say something here, but I would rather review what happened next.

So, unsatisfied, I rolled down to Greenslopes to the KFC for a $5 lunch box. Chips were perfectly seasoned, Potato and gravy was as expected as ever, Wicked wing spent the exact perfect wonderful amount of time in the pressure deep fryer, bun had just the right amount of sauce and the crispy strip was crispy as advertised.

Long story short, if you want an overcooked, dry on the inside, undercooked mush on the outside, skint little slice of chicken on a measly over buttered bun topped with cold bacon and processed cheese, head here. Don't say there aren't any better...

I had travelled from Adelaide to Brisbane after hearing whispers about how Metro Chicken has some of, if not, the best chips in Brisbane. You can tell if a place is consistent based on how often these whispers last for, and if it's consistently the same feedback. Oh trust me, these whispers do not do this place justice.

The chips at Metro Chicken were so crunchy, I flashed back to my childhood of when I had a spare $2 and could myself a bag of chips. Instead, these chips were so much better that a surge of emotion filled my body. The crunch, the seasoning, the oil used to fry these chips, everything went hand in hand. I kept eating and eating and before you knew it, the chips were gone.

The other whispers about this place was the gravy. If there really is a God out there then they really do exist for such gravy cannot be made by such a shop. It is divine, it is heavenly, it is exquisite.

For all the naysayers that say the chips are over seasoned, it is your palates that are underseasoned! This palate will limit you all from the finer foods of life, such as Metro Chicken.

10/10 will be back next time I come...

It is true the deluxe chicken burgers are better elsewhere. BUT! (there is always a but lol) their chips are the best I have ever had. To start with they have always been HOT! So take them out of your plastic bag as soon as you can to keep the the crispy on the outside, ever so fluffy on the inside and coated with a salt I will lick my fingers clean for. I will go here just for chips and gravy and call it a naughty dinner. You know the gravy made with the chicken stock. hmmm mmm Thick and tasty. Roast chicken meals are great. Veg and roasted spuds just as good. Staff have always been polite and friendly, even when they are clearly bored. Fried brie was good.
