Usually I have had great service. They have been accommodating to my coeliac disease and low fodmap. However yesterday, I mentioned to the 2 wait staff about my allergies and they didn't mention anything to the sushi girls (in the middle).
I watched the girls making my tuna and cucumber roll, she didn't change gloves but when I asked her if she changed gloves she said she did. Plus usually they would do new rolls and a chopping board/knife. (Coeliac Disease = no cross contamination).
I began eating the slice and instantly all I could taste was onion. I cannot eat onion due to my reactions. I gave my partner a piece and he confirmed, while I still had most of it in my mouth (I swallowed a little bit). I then asked the wait staff and she went over and confirmed that there was onion in the tuna.
I then had to spit it out and start washing my mouth out. There hasn't ever been onion in the tuna rolls before. It was strong and overpowering. The sushi girls in the middle said "oh you don't like onion" and I said "no I'm intolerant and can not eat it".
The staff all then went back and resumed working. No apologies, didn't clean up my area, didn't remake me a new dish or anything. I watched the 2 sushi girls have a little giggle. I just sat there waiting. After about 5-10 minutes I've had to rush home with severe bloating, closed up throat, nausea and reflux.
I left my partner to take care of the bill. He didn't pay for the dishes they stuffed up, but they also DID NOT apologise.
It's been almost 24hrs and I'm still severely sick. I am so disappointed in the service. Why would you put onion in a tuna roll and not disclose it on the menu? Absolutely disgusted by their reactions...
Read moreAgree with previous posts that food quality has gone down. Everything is now drowned in too much sauce, sometimes sauce plus mayo which is overkill. Variety is also lacking on conveyor and you have to make effort to special order former selections.
Good thing the salmon sashimi is still fresh and their tea is still decent.
Still, since we used to love this place, we frequently came. That is, until it got too noisy and they started turning away some members of our group due to discrimination.
As of the last 6 months, some staff have taken to talking loudly in a foreign language at the sushi making station. Not so much the words which I don't understand but their tone of voice gives off bad vibes.
We have always come in a group ordering huge number of plates (and sometimes the people we introduced come without us and spend big) so it's pretty disappointing that the negative seems to be a permanent feature now.
We want back the initial humble, efficient and quiet atmosphere and the old awesome...
Read moreFood quality is excellent and will likely come out quick, but some of the staff there need some more training on customer service. Was barely ushered in with a smile and a flick of the wrist was taken as a "sit anywhere you like." OK. Then the plates were smacked down on the table in a very efficient manner. The iced green tea was brewed very rushed, i had to squeeze the teabag a fair bit afterward to get the flavour out. Overheard another table being told they couldn't get cold tap water because they had "run out." No attempt to make more? Getting harder to find good service these days. At least the mayo, ginger and Wasabi has no surcharge. Sushi pieces can be on the small side...
