Monty's Place — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Today was a huge disappointment. Just after 1pm we wanted something to eat. The blonde lady at counter was clearly in a hurry to be somewhere else! She wasn’t interested in making up a sandwich to toast, you had to chose what was left in cabinet, ham & cheese or chicken & cheese. I ordered the chicken and cheese asked for avocado to be added. Hubby got the ham & cheese croissant grilled.

Sat outside at tables, when coffees were ready had to go & collect them from counter..(what? No other customers)

Food was then called out, my chicken and cheese had no avo that I paid for so took that back to be added.

My husband’s croissant was burnt black on one side he didn’t wanna bother as he knew she had already had two strikes from me, yes this was three, hubby threw it in bin after one bite!

Do yourselves a favour & go to the pies and pastries bakery right next door! Least they were fresh & keen to serve you with a smile. Beautiful baked food too!

First and last time trying this place. The "savoury mince on toast with a poached egg' was red slop with a poached egg in the middle which was rubbery and two pieces of bread (not even warm, let alone toasted). The fish and chips was a small piece of frozen boxed fish (like the kind you buy at a supermarket, which they tried to make up for with a disproportionate amount of (cold) chips and a large bowl of salad on the side. The flat white was lukewarm at best. For the amount of food that was served the price was awesome but sadly the quality was just not there. The pigeons ended up getting the majority of our meals. With quite a bit to choose from on the menu, I always find it hard to go past a burger so ordered the Gem’s Burger. A home made beef patty is hard to pass up. Ordered a long black in a mug, it was huge. There is also cakes and biscuits if you just staying for a coffee. There is seating inside & out to choose from dependant of the weather, more comfy inside. All in all, the coffee was good, the burger was delicious, did not have to wait long for our order, I’m glad we stopped...
