Third time visiting Paninaro, a Korean cafe with beautiful ambience as always but left a little disappointed.
Firstly, we ordered the Chicken Avocado Panini ($16.90) and Napolitana pasta ($18.90). The panini wasn’t traditional as it was very sweet bread (almost like brioche) but it was very tasty!I especially liked the salad sauce. The pasta was also quite nice, but had a lot of MSG in it. For the price however, it definitely didn’t wow us.
After the meal we decided on coffees, medium iced latte ($6) and hazelnut frappechino $7). I’ve had great hot coffees here, so I expected the iced to be just as good- I was very disappointed. Super bitter iced latte, and runny frappechino- I really can’t justify the price for what we got.
Reading other reviews, I agree the service isn’t great. The staff definitely weren’t rude to us, but not very friendly. No hello or thank you, just took our orders. We did get table water when asked, and meals came out pretty quickly. Overall, a cafe we wouldn’t go out of the way to visit but might pop back in if...
Read moreHad lunch here with the family. Food is average tasting and expensive - close to $20 a plate or approx $36 with the bread. Most terrible thing though, is the customer service. It looks like it’s not the first time it’s mentioned in the reviews either. In my case this was one of the waitresses there being particularly rude. She told us off in the restaurant for bringing in food by tapping at the sign on our table and telling us off loudly so other customers were looking. This was because of a single mandarin which I told her was for the baby! Unbelievable. Even the other customer looked at me in shock. We spent close to $100 on lunch feeding 4 adults and we were told off for this in this kind of manner. How are babies not able to eat food prepared from home for them? Certainly not a child friendly restaurant. If I’m in the area, I will never eat at this place again - there are too many restaurants in the Southside to choose from for me to have to put up with this kind of...
Read moreMy husband and I came here since the restaurant first opened. The food and drinks here are consistently good even after many years and we are happy every time we come here. Staff and owners treat us like family/friends and I cannot understand all the negative reviews.
As a coffee shop owner myself, I do understand their new policies of ordering one coffee per customer when you want to sit down. In this global pandemic time, many businesses have to shut down because they are unable to pay for all expenses to run their business. With the shop’s limited space and government restrictions stop them from getting full capacity of the store, they cannot afford to have 6 people sitting on a table for 2 hours ordering 1-2 drinks and having to refuse service to other people. If only everyone could be more kind, understanding and considerate, it would help local businesses to survive through...
