I went to the Rangla Punjab in New Farm. I had purchased a Groupon deal, which was for 2 curries with rice, 4 naan breads, and 2 glasses of wine. But they did not want to accept it. When I arrived they tried to deny us from using it because we presented it on my phone, the woman said that her manager said they can only accept print out, which was complete rubbish because it was not mentioned on groupon, or on the voucher and I also found out later that she WAS the manager lol!. They had a printer and a computer in the restaurant and refused to let us use it. We had to drive to a computer kiosk to print out. When we began to order the waitress tried to change the deal and said, we only get 1 naan, and it comes in FOUR SLICES!! lol instead of 4 complete naan breads!. I had to show her the website deal to prove she's wrong. They also tried to deny us the rice and wine!! Their personalities were very inhospitable and we both felt a clear unwelcoming vibe from all of the unhappy staff. I truly WOULD NOT recommend this place. There are MANY Indian restaurants around this area and definitely give this one a miss! I certainly won't be returning.
The food was fine, but it was served by...
Read moreShould have trusted the reviews. $20 Indian buffet was so disappointing. Cash only too which I find weird. We've eaten a lot of Indian in our time as our son is Coeliac so we have come to know classic curry flavours quite well. These were quite different and not overly enjoyable in terms of flavour and texture. Meat was dry and overcooked. Butter chicken was not nice at all. Naan bread okay. The bottles of chilled water were great. There seemed to be only 1 customer service guy too, who was friendly and helpful enough, but didn't seem to have the knack for working a dining room effectively. No aircon too so the faux silk chair covers were not pleasant to sit on. Decor not great. Lounges for take away customers looked like they'd been sourced from a kerbside collection. Sorry to be blunt. Not a great experience and we...
Read moreSaw their advert on Facebook about a buffet decided to try it with my partner. We love Indian food especially North Indian Cuisine. Unfortunately, after one look at the buffet spread it wasn't as good as we thought it would. We tried all the items twice. We really did not like the chicken in the curry. It was chicken breast that was cooked separately from the sauce. The other curry I think was beef and it was lackluster. The rice was cooked perfectly and the pakora was decent. The sauces for the pakora had a nice tang to cut the richness of the curries. We love supporting small family business and will visit if invited to try and improved menu.
