We had buffet which consisted of butter chicken (stale chicken pieces and sauce was more sweeter than dessert), dal which was ok, vegetable curry which was again same sauce like butter chicken, Rogan josh bland. Tandoori chicken was hard and uncooked and felt like they have used yesterday’s chicken left over. On top of that lady Reshma her name- made us feel like she is doing a huge favor on us and packing our left over naan her words “ this is the last time I’m packing buffet item” I mean we know you can’t tale away buffet item home but something we have left over and did not want to waste. Asked her to pack it instead of throwing it away. The restaurant definitely will not face losses for packing a left over naan. I’m sorry Miss Reshma but people like to see happy faces when they are around in a restaurant not someone who tries to act like we are eating there free of charge. Please I would suggest learn customer service skills before working in a hospitality industry. I never got a chance to speak with the owner but if I did I will ensure he teaches this lady some sense of talking and serving customers in his restaurant. Not going to return...
Read moreGood Indian food! This restaurant is a longstanding Morningside institution and we used to go to the Friday and Saturday night buffets before Covid before we decided we didn't like the food. The buffets are finished now and that is a great thing because the food on the a-la-carte menu is really good. We ordered a Tandoori platter and a couple of vegetarian curries which were excellent and a cut above the average Indian curries which usually taste the same. We found pieces of cinnamon and cardomom pods in the sauce and the naan were actually cooked in the tandoor oven. The poppadoms and rice are complimentary too which we really appreciate after paying as much as $5 for a small serve of rice. BYO is a plus too!
29 April 2017 We've been a few times for the Friday and Saturday night buffet, which at $20 per head is really good value for money. The curries are too a bit too mild for our taste (more suited to the Australian palate) and we don't think that they are cooking the tandoori chicken and naan in the tandoor oven any more. We probably won't...
Read moreWe have had takeaway from Scherhazade several times, last night we took some friends there for dinner, and dining in was awesome. The food, whether takeaway or in the restaurant simply tastes amazing, great value, and service is always with a smile and a friendly chat. As an English person in Australia I've always found it hard to find an awesome curry, nowhere has ever tasted close to curries I'd have back in the UK, but Scherhazade ticks all the boxes for myself as a brit and my partner as an Aussie. Scherhazade is a rare find and somewhere we will return to time and time again, we can't recommend...
