Was really looking forward to coming here after a good review from my partner's parents. Coming from the UK, I have very high standards when it comes to Curry and in 2 years of living in Australia have only been disappointed. How excited I was while reading the menu!
However, when it came to order the experience immediately went downhill. I ordered a spicy eggplant curry. The waiter proceeded to tell me "We'll make that mild for you."
"Why!?" I asked, "is it supposed to be a mild dish?"
"Oh no it's not, but you're pregnant so it's best for you to have mild."
Of course, as a paying customer I do not expect the waiter to tell me what I can/can't and should/shouldn't be ordering. As a pregnant woman, I certainly do not expect a complete stranger to decide for me what I eat. I wouldn't expect it if I wasn't pregnant either for that matter.
I politely advised the waiter that what was 'best for me' was what I had ordered.
He proceeded to reiterate that "you are pregnant". As though somehow this was a revelation to me and if I hadn't noticed until that moment, I certainly wasn't capable of knowing for myself what is or isn't good for me.
I said to the waiter, "yes thank you, I am aware of that, I am also capable of making my own decision."
The waiter clearly was not happy with my order.
Of course my dish came with absolutely no chilli in it whatsoever. He has completely disregarded my request, in favour of his own assumption, which is not something I expect when I'm paying nearly $25 for an Aubergine curry. The waiter even had the audacity to ask me how it was at the end.
As for the food: Poppadoms hadn't be dryed of their cooking oil Aubergine curry - bland Naan - dry and lifeless Thali - the curries all tasted the same and at $43 the portion is outrageous. You'd get the same portion in Birmingham for the equivalent of $13 and the quality would be far superior Rice - overcooked and stodgy The only thing with flavour was the goat curry - if you could find any goat in it you'd be lucky
I will not be returning to this establishment, I will be letting my friends know not to go and I would urge management to discuss with their staff the importance of keeping their own diagnosis and opinions to themselves.

Read moreEdited: I have been a long term curryville customer for around 8 years, have left my previous comment below. I am sad to be writing this but the taste and quality at curryville has majorly gone down hill. The naan breads used to be amazing and now are absolutely the worst I have ever had, I thought this would be a short term issue so I gave it a few months and went back agina. Sadly I had the same experience. Myself and two other families went to curryville separately on a regular basis and now none of us will be returning. I really hope that curryville read these reviews and make things right again. I would much rather pay extra money to cover staff costs for quality naans and curry. Your business will not survive this if you continue and that would be a sad day. You cannot afford to be skimping on one of the core items that makes Indian what it is. If staff are an ongoing issue make the menu reduced and improve the items you do have before you destroy your business for good.
Prior review from 2021: Best curry I have ever had. I have been coming to curryville for 7 years and many more to come! The vegetable jalfrezi and garlic and cheese naan are my go to. I have since introduced many friends who are obsessed now as well. Keep doing what...
Read moreI have always had good experiences with Curryville's takeaway food, despite having to wait around sometimes for the order past the time quoted on the phone for pick up, which is why I am extremely disappointed in the service and quality of food I received recently. My parents had flown in to visit me and we were keen to sit in the restaurant to eat, however were told we were not able to sit when we arrived, despite still being open and other customers sitting down. I asked if we could do takeaway and was informed that would be fine. Unfortunately, the quality of the food we received was lacking. Not sure if we were just given the scraps at the end of day but the flavours were poor, there was little meat, the rice was very dry, and the naan's we paid almost $6 for tasted like they had been cooked hours before; they were hard as concrete. We also all experienced some stomach discomfort the day after, which has not happened before. Safe to say that I will definitely be hesitant to return, which is unfortunate, considering this used to be a go-to takeaway...
