Stellarossa Aspley — Restaurant in Brisbane City

I have never left a negative review before but I was so unimpressed with my recent visit to this cafe that I would hate others to waste their money here.

Firstly, the service staff were just horrible. I ordered a carbonara minus mushroom onion and bacon. The lady taking my order went above and behind to mock and ridicule the order, rolling her eyes and commenting numerous times about the changes requested. And then commented to the next customer about it. This order was for a child with a disability, and due to sensory issues doesn’t enjoy those ingredients and prefers plain foods. No judgment is necessary. I suggest that your staff perhaps lack understanding and empathy, and require training because this steps very closely to violating the rights of people with disabilities to be in the community and live a life free from discrimination!

On top of this the food was average. I ordered the pulled pork burger, described as “juicy” with coleslaw, what I got was a cold crusty bun with dried up crumbling pork that resembled no pulled pork I’ve ever seen- it looked like the fried onion/shallot crumble you can get on an ikea hotdog. When the owner saw me poking at my burger I told her it was dry and she said a number of times that’s just the way it comes due to it going through the “impinger”. Not sure what this is, but maybe don’t impinge your burgers if this is the final product! There wasn’t even any coleslaw on the burger which probably would’ve helped make it palatable.

She offered to make something else, but we’d already waited so long that I didn’t have time. To her credit, she also offered a free meal, but to be honest I will never return and would’ve much rather she’d just offered me my money back.

I was also shocked at the size of a “large” milkshake, which for $7.90 was really only a small-medium at the most. Nearly $20 for a pasta that was a kids size serving at best. I get that cost of living is high, but don’t advertise sizes or ingredients in meals that just do not fit what you’re serving!!

If only I could give 0 stars I would, but I guess the offer of a free meal makes 1 star acceptable. Very disappointing!!! $50 is a lot to pay for bad service, bad food and bad...

This could involve regularly updating their website and other online platforms to reflect any changes in opening and closing times. Additionally, implementing a system to notify customers of any deviations from the stated hours, such as clear signage at the café entrance, would be beneficial.

I’ve been a regular at Stellarossa Aspley for a while now. The food is consistently superb and the coffee is soul warming. Allergies and dietary requirements are always accommodated for in a no fuss manner.

The staff are always so friendly and one thing that I love to see is that the senior staff and owner always act in a way that is kind and supportive when it comes to their young trainees. Some time ago I witnessed a very out of line customer treat a trainee quite poorly and I was very impressed to see how it was handled and how the staff member was supported. I have seen exactly the opposite at other cafes around the area and this has actually stopped me from ever returning. Clearly, Stellarossa Aspley is not only a wonderful place to enjoy a meal and great coffee, but also a positive work environment, which in my opinion contributes to excellent customer experience.

One of the only places that I can go and know beyond a doubt, I will have a great meal and receive excellent service. Thanks to your entire team for a great experience every time, keep doing...
