I brought a smoothie to the restaurant, but the staff informed me that outside drinks are not allowed. I've been to other popular Korean restaurants where outside drinks are permitted, so I had bought a drink to bring in. Places like Haeduri Chicken City and Maru allow outside drinks, except for Falala, which requires the purchase of a drink to allow outside beverages. I asked the staff if I could keep my smoothie if I bought a drink from the restaurant, but they said no. When I left, my smoothie had melted into water. I hope they can adopt a policy like Falala’s, where outside drinks are allowed if you purchase a drink from the restaurant.
Two of us spent around 100 AUD, which is much higher than many other Korean restaurants in Brisbane. However, the food was quite similar to what you’d find at other Korean eateries, with nothing particularly outstanding. I ordered the seafood hotpot, original fried chicken, and spicy octopus. I highly recommend the seafood hotpot as the seafood was very fresh. The other two dishes were quite ordinary, but priced much higher than at other Korean restaurants.
Additionally, I initially came to this restaurant to experience the atmosphere of Korean street food tents. I'm not sure what to call it, perhaps a tent. If you are a party of two, you are not allowed to sit in those areas. However, the seats under the tent and the regular seats both have four seats, so why can't two people sit there? Moreover, from the time we started eating until we finished, there were still empty tents! I hope they can make adjustments to their policy on outside drinks and their pricing. I was very disappointed with many aspects of my visit, and I'm not sure if it's due to the new opening and unfamiliarity...
Read moreTable for two. Ordered Tteokbokki and Korean army stew. After over 30mins the Tteokbokki came and it was barely warm. This is not good because as the rice cakes become cool they become tougher to eat instead of being soft and chewy. Our table was missing 1 drinking cup. Kimchi is $2 more if you want a refill. If your used to having kimchi refills included like Korean restaurants used to. this can be a suprise.
We'd finish the tteokbokki and waited another 10 more minutes for the Army stew to arrive. The stew comes in a large pot that goes on a stove on your table and cooks on the spot. This had a very decent amount of sausage and spam that was impressive. This stew can accommodate 3 adults easily or 4 adults with rice.
Because of the long wait time for food the experience died fast for me. It is obvious the restaurant cannot keep up with their seating capacity otherwise it wouldn't take so long for food to come out. As our table only ordered 2 dishes this really should be coming out together being only 2 dishes and not one by one with such big wait time in between each dish.
Book ahead of time if you want to be seated in the tent tables.
There's alot of hype on social media for this place and I personally think the concept of the Korean tents (Pocha) is quite cool however, I wish the restaurant to bring more value to the customers to encourage a returning customer base. At this point for myself I see it as a one off experience and...
Read moreI heard that there was a pocha next to Moa Mart, so I was really looking forward to it, so I made a reservation a week in advance and finally arrived! From the moment I entered, I was very happy and welcomed by the Korean retro atmosphere. As I was waiting at the front entrance, Korean pop music from the 90s to early 2000s was playing loudly and I was really excited.😊👍✨️ I was guided to a seat outside. I was more excited about the atmosphere of the food stalls! Waiting for drinks and food. Since it was outside, it was very cold,❄️ so I asked to turn on the gas heater, but they said there were no gas cylinders. I was shaking while drinking beer and said it was cold, so the waiter told me to take down the tent. If you were going to take down the tent and have a drink, why would you come here so far? There was no music outside and the staff only came and went when serving, so I felt left out.😭 It was so cold that I kept adding water to the soup and evaporating 1 liter of water to relieve the cold. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I moved to another bar. I felt like I went camping in the cold weather with my...
