I eat a lot of Korean food. I have eaten my fair share across Brisbane Korean restaurants- This is my absolute favourite numba one in Brisbane and everything SLAPSSSSS super hard. You can tell that they really care to make everything taste freaking glorious and delicious here, no skimping on flavour, maximum umami 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Let me break it down to what you should order: Garlic Pork Hock (number 3 on menu), oh my goodness does this slap! Only Jokbal that brings me as much joy as the Michelin guided one in Seoul that I often return to
Soy Bossam (number 4 on menu) order these two meat dishes as a set.
All the compliments that comes with the meat dishes are just chefs kiss, even the kimchi here has never missed, very umami, fresh, not too sour so you know it’s always freshly prepared.
Those rice balls you make yourself (tuna and fish roe both great
THE SUNDUBU it’s pretty freaking delicious here! Honestly my fav place for sundubu, just get it- we always have to order more mid meal since it’s the first to be finished if you’re not quick enough 😶🌫️
Cold Buckwheat noodle salad is great as well, very umami, good for feeding your vegetarian friends (lols)
Have had the spicy pork hock here and it was nice, I think those who like spice will like it~ avoid it if you’re not good with spice.
Service always friendly, they’re very lovely. Small joint, try and come for lunch or when they just open for dinner service esp on weekends can get very busy. Esp if you’re a bigger 5+ group then really, try for...
Read moreUsed to dine here when it was 8 Chicken. So came out to try the new management and food choices.
Ordered various dishes amongst 4 diners. The Pork Hock was nicely cooked with great traditional flavours. Meat was cooked to just right with it being tender and also full of flavours. The only downside is that there was a living bug moving around in which we had to get a new dish prepared.
The spicy buckwheat noodles wasn’t as great. Felt like the noodles were left overs as it was all broken up. The cook time didn’t seemed right as the noodles had lost its elasticity and the originally textures you get from buckwheat noodles. The sauce seemed as if it wasn’t fully prepared correctly as it seemed it wasn’t grated fully.
The steamed pork belly (bossam) had good flavours and cooked to tender. There wasn’t much to add.
The fried chicken was just average and nothing special about it.
Overall, the dine in experience wasn’t so great. Asked who seemed like the owner to ramp up the aircon but replied by saying it’s the best it is and not sure how to operate it. I know from previously dining with the old management that it was possible. The owner didn’t seem to know what she was doing in general.
Not sure if I’ll return back anytime soon, but could do if other Korean cuisine options were closed or...

We ordered set menu (choose 2 ) that jokbal and spicy jokbal. Normal jokbal was great, well-cooked, well-balanced between meet and fat so we enjoyed. However, spicy jokbal is not spicy than we expected. I normally can't handle spicy and not hit to me. And there was only meat (no fat and no bone) and it was dried and a bit chewy. Makgoksu was more hot than spicy jokbal. Makgoksu sause was great as not watery (thick), plenty of vegetables with. Anyway we hope there was more noodles because it was yummy. Side dishes were great especially fresh-made kimchi.
Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was small but cozy and clean. Great portion, reasonable price.
I will come back to try...
