TLDR: I feel their menus border on false advertising as they have black coloured plates on their conveyor belt, but there is no black plate price on their menu, only blue through gold
The sushi was expensive, tasty, but not really traditional sushi, lots of creamy sauce etc. I payed over $30 for four plates of sushi (admittedly one plate was four pieces of quality salmon sashimi)
I picked up a salmon sashimi platter off the train and saw that the plate was black, however there is no associated price guide on the menu, where the other plate colours and prices are. So I figure they've run out of gold plates and black is standing in for that. At the end of dining, I go to pay and am informed the price is $15 for the black plate. I was shocked as this was over double their next highest priced plate ($6.50). I offered to pay $10 for the plate, given that it was sashimi, and said I felt it was unfair as there was no indication of the price of the black plates on the menu.
In their defence, if you look to order from the menu, the sashimi plates are listed with prices, however I go to Sushi Train for the convenience of quickly grabbing some plates and eating. So I grabbed a plate off the train expecting to find the price with the other coloured plates.
I requested they update their menus to include the black plates along with the other plates and their corresponding prices.
I am also unhappy because the manager was unwilling to negotiate, and unwilling to admit even part responsibility for the unclear pricing schedule. After I checked with him that this was the case, he said "we will consider your recommendation" however this felt like a placation to get me to pay up and get out...
Read moreOn the way back home the family and I decided to stop at sushi train aspley and normally it's a good experience however things have changed and not necessarily for the better. First they moved locations which you normally would be a bigger place but they moved to a smaller shopfront and it was so small I would not recommend any families with kids as the booths they have thete really only fit 2 people on a date if you have to bring a pram which we did not there is no way you can take it inside there is no space. We moved booths next to the train thinking it's got more space it did not. And when we did move one of the chefs made a scene and said we have to clean I said I know I'm just sitting. This did not help the overall experience. I ordered a beef undon and as a soup it was sweet which makes me think they added msg to the dish. Also my wife ordered a soup dish as well and they got it wrong only giving a somushi plate honestly they were off their game last night. Also the restruant floor was soo wet from the rain the staff and customers had to be very careful not to fall as I have a disability this is even a higher risk for me. Overall poor give this sushi train location a miss and go to clayfield that would be the next closest. I normally spend 200 dollars on average I only spent 60 dollars. I hope they improve. There was no normal sushi train greeting when you...
Read moreDidn't sit at the train but in a booth, which is fine at most sushitrains, had to order via the app. Have ordered at other sushitrains via the app with no troubles. This place had NFI. Had to wait a long long time for basic (mini chicken roll) went to the train to get some plates for kids as they were starving and can mostly always find something to eat straight away, but still had very limited food on it. Asked where our food was that we odered on the app after a long wait, was 3mins, 10mins and a screaming, hungry child later, it turned up as we were leaving (COLD! So not fresh) The curtains in the middle of the booths are disgusting. Blew in the 'breeze' and kept touching us on the back of the neck with dirty, skanky old fake tan rub and random strands of hair (zoom in on our pic for a nice real life view) Staff apologised for the wait (as we left) but it was not busy, no line up outside, The old venue was always a good flyby on our way home from Brisbane but will NOT be returning...
