Thai at Home is not only the best Thai restaurant that I've been to in Brisbane, it is one of the best Thai restaurants I've eaten at period. And I am a very picky customer when it comes to Thai food.
My favorite dishes are the red, green, and panang curry. You can ask for fresh chili on the side to spice the dishes to your liking, or you can ask for "hot" or "thai hot" if you'd rather not add it in yourself. The flavor is amazing. I usually get vegetarian curry, but the chicken and duck are very good quality if you prefer meat.
Their stir-fry dishes are also great. I've tried all of the flavors and recommend them all. All of the dishes that come with vegetables have a wide range of veggies that are fresh and cooked to a great consistency, still retaining their crunch.
Of course the pad thai is good, but make sure you get one of their other dishes like the curry or stirfry because you'll be missing out if you don't.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is quaint and low key, perfect for anything from a friendly outing to a date. It's a little bit more expensive than your average Thai joint, but the quality is also FAR superior to average.
I recommend this to everyone, it will...
Read moreReview is for takeaway order. Portions were great for the price, specials were very good, and food all arrived quickly. In terms of taste overall, food was okay but wouldnât be my first pick next time. We specifically wanted a Pad See Ew, and Thai at Home had this and Pad Thai on special! Ordered Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, Keaw Tod (fried wonton), Tamarind Prawn, and Som Tum Pu Pla. Wonton: Excellent. These were so good!! Fried noodles: generous portions, really packed into the container. Could use more add ins. I upgraded $8 for Seafood, which was two prawns, three calamari curls, and a scallop; the veg was minimal and the flavour was quite mild. Tamarind Prawn: Six big juicy prawns, but it was a bit stodgy and you couldnât really taste the tamarind. Som Tum Pu Pla: The menu description for this could be revised. It said green pawpaw salad with âsalted crabâ which we took to mean soft shell crab; but it turns out this is a raw crab pickled in brine with the hard shell on. A very traditional street dish; and definitely not what we expected!! Couldnât eat the crab. Too much sauce, it was served warm, and the salty brackish flavour ruined the pawpaw for us. Iâll bet someone out there...
Read moreI am said friend of recent reviewer who recommended Thai at home. I am deeply saddened by his in-experienced and shallow judgement of a fine Thai cuisine.
I too ordered a meal, a pad see eew to be precise and was nourished by its authentic and astounding flavours. Having travelled through the south east of Thailand I am an avid thai man and always know a good thai joint when I find one.
This particular Pad see eew took me back to my short but colourful stay in the great nation of Thailand. Seeing nor tasting no difference from the country of origin.
Recent reviewer Nayan Patel lacks judgement and sophistication in anything that extends boundaries of the 4067 postcode.
I hope this review re instates the good morals of family business and trust of customers who dine at Thai at home.
I will be returning in the very near future to remind myself what a traditional thai meal...
