Update 17 December The manager made the effort to reach out to me today apologising for the service last visit which was appreciated. Because of this effort I've adjusted my 1 star to 3.
I visited here a few years ago and left a fairly average review. Drink orders forgotten etc but good food and friendly staff....I visited recently for a christmas function and it was completely disappointing.
It took about 90 minutes for the food to be delivered with a span of 45 minutes between some of the meals on the table.
After an hour I was ordering a round of drinks but firstly asked for an update on the whereabouts of my food. I witness a fairly heated 'discussion' between the bar staff and the waitress which coincided with another customer seeking a refund as their food wasn't delivered in time.
I was advised that they were busy, however the restaurant didn't appear that busy. Before I could order my drinks the barman proceeded to take an order from another customer, I excused myself and mentioned that I did also wish to make an order. At which point the barman threw a table number stand onto the bar, sighed and rudely asked what I wanted.
I seriously don't expect a tantrum from an adult.
When the food arrived it was smaller than I expected for the price, but tasted reasonable. The drinks seemed reasonably priced and they had a good selection. The wait for average food, plus poor customer service are the main reasons for this low review.
My original 3/5 star review is below for comparison.
The food was really good and for the most part the staff were friendly but two drink orders were forgotten. One followed immediately by another. It's good having the sport on the big screen and in the small screens in your booth.
It'd be better if you could just order food and drinks from the touch screen in the booth, and even better if you could link that to your sporting globe account to pay...
Read moreI cannot hold my anger about how badly we were treated tonight here. THIS IS MY FIRST NEGATIVE COMMENTS EVER. My friends and I arrived at 7:30 and made our orders. Seeing people around our table were getting theirs food, we started to worry that our orders didn't go through, so I went to the waitress to check and we got confirmed that the orders went through to the kitchen and was told that the kitchen was very busy tonight.
We waited until 9:01 and the table behind us finished their meals and they were leaving, and we still didn't get our meals. We actually made our orders right after that table finished making their orders because we realized that they provided table service.
The another table next to us ordered later than us and at this moment, 9:01PM, I heard one waitress was telling them that their meals would be coming, but nobody had said anything to us about our meals.
I felt a bit discriminated. Is it because we are Asian or we look young so nobody wants to serve us? I even needed to left our table and went to ask the staff about our meals.
When I said I would like to cancel our meals after waiting for 1.5 hours, the same lady who served us told us that she had mentioned about the waiting time for the meal. However we are really sure that she didn't say that at all. The only thing she said is the kitchen was very busy.
It really upset me and it sounds like it is our fault. What kind of customer service is that? I really don't think they are doing their business. As nobody really shows that we are welcomed here. Not to mention that there are more than 5/6 wait staff and none of them came and take the orders.
I won't recommend all my friends n family to come here.
Even though the manger gave us somebvouchers and apologize, I won't use them and I know I won't come back again.
Sorry about this comment but it is really what I have experienced here n how I...
Read moreThis afternoon, my husband, 12-month-old son, and I ventured into Sporting Globe for what I hoped would be a relaxing and uneventful beer and meal. The ambiance was exactly what you’d expect from a sports bar— loud, sticky tables, and enough televisions to remind me that I still have no idea how sport works, despite sitting through countless games with my husband.
We settled in, ordered some drinks, and I quietly began feeding my son the food I had brought from home. That’s when a young employee, who I can only assume was fresh off a YouTube legal channel, approached me with the enthusiasm of someone who had just found a loophole in my parenting.
“Next time,” he said, in the tone one uses to explain that their Minecraft server is down, “you’re not allowed to bring any food in, because if you or your baby have an allergic reaction, we don’t want to be liable.”
I stared at him for a moment, weighing whether I should explain the improbability of my child having a reaction to food I had personally prepared or simply offer to sign a waiver in blood absolving the establishment of all responsibility for any future rogue carrot sticks. Instead, I opted for a polite nod, suppressing the urge to ask if they’d also prefer I refrain from bringing my own oxygen into the building.
Apparently, it’s my homemade baby food they’re worried about and not the suspiciously cold chicken wings on the menu, which, if we’re talking liability, seem a far greater threat to public safety.
In summary, if you’re looking for a sports bar that prioritises legal disclaimers over common sense, you’ve found your place. As for me, I’ll be looking elsewhere to eat lunch and enjoy a beer in peace without worrying about triggering an accidental lawsuit over soft vegetables.
Would give 5 stars, but as I didn’t bring any legal documentation confirming my son’s immunity to homemade veggies and gravy, I’m...
