The flight time sure is fun but the Brisbane folk are all about their convenience not your experience.
The 2 minutes of flight on the intro package could easily get 5 stars but the experience overall would be a 3 star on a generous day.
Other reviews about the click bait pricing structure is very accurate no matter what the company response is. It really detracts from the experience. We have the money to spend - just tell us what the prices are upfront and we probably would have purchased the upgrades "but wait, how about we throw this in ... And this... And this ... And we'll charge you triple the advertised rate" Bad business form when they rely on repeat business. The poor staff having to work with that system.
We spent a lot of time sitting around waiting. Disrespectful! They're quick to tell you to arrive 45 minutes early or forfeit your flight, but we sat waiting for more than 40 minutes while they seemingly waited for the next group to arrive. If they had asked us if we would mind waiting we could have gone and got a coffee or something to nibble on rather than wait quietly while getting an insight to their lack of enthusiasm and boredom. By the time they got started our own enthusiasm levels had plummeted.
We took the intro package of 8 flights for 2 people which they translate to 2 flights each for 2 minutes. The receptionist KNEW my plan was to give my partner 6 flights and I take 2 but she didn't set us straight. Poor communication! Racking up the overall disappointment.
The photo's were nothing like the ones advertised so don't have high expectations - the bored and disinterested guy yawning away at the camera and laptop just clicked away randomly and we got to choose 1 each from a big bunch of silly shots you couldn't even see our faces in. I'm a sports photographer so I understand the challenges - but he has a nice fixed set up with a constant environment to work with. The quality of the image is not challenging. Get those settings right. No excuse! At least the image is high enough resolution you can edit it yourself on your phone so you're not a dark blob đ
The staff and managers should go for a tree top experience in Nambour to learn about great customer experience đ they have a lot more info to give to bigger crowds of different ages and they NAILED IT! The company should review their infomercial style pricing package (we would have bought the next level package for the next available time slot if we didn't feel we were going to have our time disrespected and be hit with unexpected "buy this" tactics)
The tunnel is almost guaranteed to get 5 stars even from people scared...
Read moreI am pretty annoyed that my girlfriend and I only got 2.5 minutes in the air for $100 each. I know that they will say "oh but this includes the cost of using the equipment and the training" but the training includes a 3 minute advertisement video showing how cool the experience can be (which I think is unnecessary, you already took my money, give us a proper training video so we can make the most of our experience and perfect our technique) followed by some basic teaching of some hand signals which wouldn't warrent that high pricetag for 2.5 mins in the air.
Furthermore, the website states that for the $100 price you get "4 flights equivalent to 6 tandem skydiving freefalls from 12,000 ft" which sounds impressive, until you realise that a "skydiving freefall" is only a minute long. So they didn't even get the amount of flight time right for the package I bought, which should have been 6 tandem skydive freefalls for a total of 6 minutes instead of the 2.5.
To add to this, this place tries to get you to cough up more money through offering you 1 minute more flight time for $20 or 2 minutes more flight time for $30. Additionally they try to convince you to try a "high fly" which is when you fly high up the tube, which sounds cool, until you realise that it is an extra $20.
A real skydive is only 300 bucks from skydive Australia Noosa for a tenden skydive, which includes a plane ride, and the parachute ride down don't waste your time and money here.
This is directed to ifly themselves, you guys need to properly explain what people get for their money and not this "4 flights equivalent to 6 tandem skydiving freefalls from 12,000 feet" Bullpoop. But then again, few people would pay this much for such a short amount of...
Read moreiFly is an indoor 'skydiving' facility, that allows you simulate free falling, ranging from stabilising posture to accelerated ascent, all in a reinforced transparent tube - essentially a vertical wind tunnel. They cater for a wide range of ages and weight, and I saw burly grown men floating around, whilst primary schoolers were doing controlled flips in mid air. This is done under the mentoring of experienced staff, who will assist and prevent you from injuring yourself. All sessions are a single person, plus instructor, though it does appear that quite advanced students may be able to cohabit the tube, if arranged prior.
Sessions are for 60 seconds each, and whilst that might not sound like much, most people got a lot in their minute of free falling. It's not offered on the website (at least, not on the one I booked through), but staff will offer a 'top of the tower' flight in addition, which is a full throttle blast to the top of the tube a few times. Definitely worth it for the additional money
Take note, that you will be asked to turn up 60 minutes ahead of your flight time, and it is prudent to be there on time. This allows staff to brief you, suiting up, then for you to reflect on whether this was a good idea in the first place.
All instructors were very professional in their handling of students, and iFly has both male and female instructors. You may want to enquire in advance if you have a preference.
Also worth noting, that whilst there is plenty of waivers involved, should something happen, iFly advised that customers are covered under their insurance.
We had a great time at iFly, and really happy we went. If you want to have some good fun, or simply top up your skydiving hours, this is definitely...
