Visited on 18/4/25 as part of our Easter retreat, driving up the coast from Sydney. This was our first stop, and the kids were already getting hungry. With two young and fairly picky eaters, we decided to head into Oliver’s after seeing the kids' menu, which offered a burger and chips option.
We placed our order. While we understood and accepted the delay due to the busy shop, we were stunned when the food arrived: the "hamburger" was tiny. Words can't really describe it — even a photo wouldn't do it justice — but imagine the size of the top of a standard soda can. That’s it.
Yes, it was a kids' meal, but this wouldn’t satisfy anyone older than maybe three years old. It felt more like an infant’s portion rather than a proper kids' meal. And the price? $11.95. Absolutely ridiculous and frankly shameful.
To be fair, the venue was relatively clean — a little messy with the high foot traffic, but not dirty — and the staff did their best to cope with the demand, even if service was a bit sluggish. There’s definitely room for improvement there.
I understand this is likely a network-wide issue rather than something specific to the Bulahdelah shop, but unfortunately for them (and for me), it was at Oliver’s Bulahdelah that I learned a hard lesson: never again at Oliver’s. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice,...
Read moreI think this Oliver’s has a problem. We usually love the food and vibe at Olivers up and down the coast but the staff at Bulahdelah were rubbish. It wasn’t that busy when we walked in for lunch today, stood at the counter looking at the two staff expectantly, waiting to be acknowledged & served. 5 minutes later, we are still waiting while they prepare food and look at us sometimes but say and do nothing. No ‘Hey won’t be long’ or ‘We’re understaffed, would you mind ordering on the touchscreen?’ Or even a SMILE in our direction. Unbelievable! So we order on the touchscreen otherwise I guess we don’t eat. 🤷♀️😳 Food was pretty good at least. Not great for the price but ok. Chicken on the burger was dry and green beans a bit limp. But flavour was good. We sit and watch while the same treatment happens to most of the others who walk in. If a line forms , one of the staff wander over. But no smiles. One even chose to empty the bin in front of the counter while people were waiting to be served! Then mozie’s on up to the counter to serve the poor lady watching her. Far out. As we leave , I see a new lady, in casual clothes serving the waiting line. I wonder if that was the boss/owner jumping in because no one else seems to care. 👎🏼 I’ll think twice before stopping to eat at this...
Read moreI picked up my coffee today, which was extremely under weight, I asked for it to be topped up, and was told, 'its full, if I put any more milk in, it will spill over'. and then she still added another inch of so of milk, and it didnt spill, I picked it up again, it was still not a full cup of coffee, I took it and pushed the foam back, it was still a good inch from the top of the cup. I dont mind paying 5 bucks for a cup for a coffee, but I would suggest you teach your staff how to make a cappucinno coffee and fill the cup. I dont like complaining, I just dont spend my money there again, and Im sure others who are given half a cup of coffee will do the same if your staff arent trained in barista, or customer service. Its a franchise that dumped itself in the front of a beautiful town, and its all about money, not customer service or satisfaction.. the cafe wasnt terribly busy, so it wasnt a mistake from overworked staff, I was served fast, but the product was lousy and not...
