Nestled within the walls of a charming old chapel, this delightful coffee shop offers a truly unique experience. From the moment you step inside, youâre transported into a serene and welcoming space that feels almost sacred, as if dining in a cozy, modern sanctuary. The high ceilings and stained-glass accents add an air of quiet reverence, perfectly complementing the warmth of the friendly staff who greet you with genuine smiles.
The attention to detail here is outstanding, from the artfully brewed coffee to the thoughtfully crafted menu. Every dish is a celebration of fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the portions are generous enough to leave you feeling completely satisfied. pistachio and rosewater muffins are a must-try for anyone with a sweet toothâtheyâre like a little piece of heaven.
What makes this place even more special is its inclusivity. Whether you're vegan, gluten-free, or just a lover of good food, thereâs something for everyone. The staffâs dedication to accommodating different dietary needs is a testament to their commitment to making everyone feel at home.
Visiting this cafe is more than just a mealâitâs an experience. The ambiance, with its chapel-like charm, is both calming and inspiring. Itâs the perfect spot for a peaceful breakfast, a catch-up with friends, or simply a moment of quiet reflection over a great cup of coffee.

Read moreAs a survivor of an early career in coffee in Melbourne I found the entire experience in this place bloody awesome. Beyond the obvious cool cafe stuff like culty textile studio decor and whiskey hinting at evenings itâs the small things that had a huge impact on our experience. Itâs clean even under the machine, and organized to facilitate productive work. NEVER CHANGE THAT MACHINE. Custom Synessos of that magnitude are like a burning hearth at the core of your spot (which the Chapel has by the way) By all means auto your milk, grind, and tamp but please keep that beauty.
We both opted for the Eggs Benny. Big healthy portions of hash, roasted onion and tomato with some spinach on the side accompanied a delicious Benny on Rye/Sourdough. A tactic usually played by cafes to boost sales is adding in sides taking a $17 dish up to $30 with ease. We were both so pleased to see healthy good quality roasted and grilled veg accompanying a classic Benny and to be truly stuffed to the gills by it all without hemorrhaging cash. At the end of the day itâs breakfast so letâs try to leave with full bellies and wallets.
I know this place cranks with takeaways at times and lines out the door are common. This is great. Donât fight that as a customer. It pays the bills. Pick your time here and youâll be super happy to sit in and be treated to what I would say is the best over all cafe experience in Lutruwita / Tassie for food, coffee,...
Read moreOn our last day in Burnie, our group decided to try the Chapel: we'd driven past it several times already, and seen its giant coffee cup calling out to its parishioners.
We were not disappointed.
The team have transformed this old church into a house of coffee, eggs and bacon. And if that wasn't enough, you can play hipster bingo while you're here: keep your eye out for sustainability friendly toilet paper, water from beer taps, payment services integrated with keep cups, trendy baristas, old pews turned into seating, orders being taken on mobile devices, not to mention the usual fare of laboratory inspired cold press coffee machines.
This cafe would not look out of place in a grafittied Melbourne laneway, and that's a good thing.
The food isn't bad either. Would brunch...
