Our stay at bayside central apartments was extremely disappointing. My friends and I were booked in for a 30 day stay, however after our experience we would not recommend this accommodation to anyone. Together we were paying $300 a night, which we were happy to pay due to location and expectation that facilities would be up to standard. We were shocked at the disparity between the photos on the website and the room we were allocated. The pictures are very misleading, depicting a spacious area whereas our room was extremely cramped and not suitable for the amount of people nor length of stay. We were shocked to find the single bed in the kitchen area, as well as the kitchen itself being so small we had to set up our camping table in order to have enough space to fit a chopping board. The stovetop is very outdated and ultimately unsafe as it had no temperature control and would stay hot for hours after use. There was no rangehood in the kitchen meaning the room would quickly become smoky and the smell would linger, even with windows open. We were also concerned that the smoke alarm was not working as it didn’t respond even when the room was extremely smoky from cooking. Additionally, the light in the kitchen didn’t work, another light had no protective cover and the lights above the bed would often flicker.
We were reluctant to raise concerns regarding the state of our apartment due to the unpleasant nature of our previous interactions with management. Both receptionists that we dealt with were extremely rude and made all 3 of us uncomfortable during our stay. In our first week, one of us was studying for her final university exam so we had ‘do not disturb’ on our door so that no one would distract her during her study time and her actual exam. As we had opted for no room service during this period, we ran low of some supplies and therefore we went down to reception to ask for some more toilet paper. During this conversation the receptionist insinuated that we had an unregistered guest staying in the apartment with us because we had ‘do not disturb’ on the door. She then told us that she wanted to ‘have a look around our room’ the next day. This comment made made us feel quite uncomfortable as if she didn’t respect our privacy. We were also blamed for leaving our takeaway on the communal stairwell, and despite explaining that this was not from us, the receptionist continued to act in disbelief which made us feel unfairly judged. On another occasion, our new neighbours knocked on our door to introduce themselves. Whilst we were having a conversation with them in the hallway and myself standing in the room, Maryann appeared at the bottom of the stairs and started yelling and accusing us of having unregistered guests in the facility, when all of us in fact were registered guests.
Towards the end of our stay there was another incident with management that left us feeling quite shaken. Understandably, managers have a job to do but we believe this situation could have been handled in a much more mature and respectful manner. We were conversing with our neighbours in the communal hallway when admittingly one individual had gone into another’s apartment to use their bathroom as theirs was in use. We were not being boisterous, there was no drinking nor music playing however Maryanne must have been watching us via the cameras as she angrily approached and threatened us with eviction. We were accused of trespassing, and we were given a final warning when previous warnings were never brought to our attention. We immediately responded to her request to return to our own apartment, however we were continually badgered and felt as if we were being treated like criminals.
Overall, our stay at these apartments was not worth the large amount of money we paid. The facilities, as well as treatment by management was disappointing and we would not recommend this apartment to anyone looking to...
Read moreHubby and I stayed here for 4 days we took the queen family unit because it’s convenient ient to us because it’s got a kitchen 1 queen bed and 1 single as we requested to Erin (receptionist).we explained to her that maybe my stepson will stay with us for 1 night she said that’s ok as long as we let them know and we get charge extra $30/$35 which is no big deal to us. First 2 nights was ok bed was comfy enough it’s got a kitchen in the room so we can cook our meals. You get a lot of noise from outside people and bats. After 2 days we decided to transfer to the other queen room because hubby and i both think that it maybe quieter than the other room so we transferred there. So that’s the night that my stepson wanted to stay because he liked the room and he felt like he wants to Spend some time with us. We didn’t inform the office straight away because he just decided he wanted to stay that night it was late etc. and hubby and i said oh let’s just tell them tomorrow office hours. Next morning we got woken up by the noise from the bats as the usual and rubbish trucks then went back to bed and got disturbed by a phone call from Erin the receptionist (8:45am) telling us that she saw at the security camera my step sons bike and asked us If he stayed the night (in an accusing tone). Ok hang on we know we are meant to inform u but u should give us atleast the benefit of the doubt or a chance to come and tell u not to disturb us accusing and treating us like we are criminals. Anyhow we kinda brought that up with the other receptionist and she kinda got upset instead of apologising to us for disturbing us and making us feel uncomfortable. Next day my step son is with us eating in the room but he is not staying he is going to his mums ok. So the blonde receptionist just came to the room rudely without knocking whatsoever seems like checking if my stepson stayed which i find very rude and unprofessional. She even tried to get the housekeeping lady to come to our room (without our permission)even though we don’t want room service. Overall we are not happy with our experience we are not staying there again there are plenty of places to stay in Byron Bay to be honest we stayed there because we were in a rush to go back to Melbourne and it’s cheap and close to the shops but that’s all it’s not worth being harassed and treated...
Read moreMy husband and I just spent 5 days in a room at Bayside and we loved it. Very clean rooms, great appliances, huge room, great comfortable bed and great shower. The studio had a washing machine and a dryer, which made our life much easier as we didn't have to pack dirty clothes back home. They also offer basic amenities, hair dryer, DVD player, TV, oven, stove, plates, glasses, cups, pan, utensils, toaster and kettle. Everything very clean, except the kettle, that needs a bit more attention. Also, you must do your dishes or they charge $40 to do so (which is fair). You also have free little packs of cold milk for your free instant coffe or tea, available in your room. The room has a huge comfortable sofa, small table, dinner table at the balcony, iron, iron board and wardrobe. Everything you need to live well and comfortable. Every studio has its own free parking space and you can park even if you arrive before tour room is ready. Please notice that you must not make any noise between 9pm and 8am, which will also guarantee that you'll have a great night of sleep. Front view rooms may have some noise coming from the bat camp in front of the hotel. The bat's can be very noisy at 6am and 5pm. We chose this place for its price, the lowest price for a private room with private bathroom available, and we were surprised in a good way. It was much better than expected. We were...
