Came to this place as it was recommended by a work colleague and I was excited because I love Lebanese/ Mediterranean food. We were in for a rude shock. On arrival, the staff didn't look too happy to be there. The lady that came to our table was abrupt and was impatient with my elderly parents. She seemed to be mocking them and rolling her eyes when they asked her questions about the food. It was very uncomfortable. This should have been our red flag to get out. We ordered a few dishes, including the lamb skewers, chicken skewers, salad and dips, and the falafel plate. The tabbouli was so wrong. Nothing like an authentic tabbouli that we've had eaten many other Mediterranean restaurants, and it definitely wasn't nice. Someone needs to tell the chef that tabbouli needs to be majority parsley and needs more tomatoes. The chicken was raw. From reading other reviews, it seems to be a recurring problem at this place. You'd think they would have had plenty of opportunities to get it right. I complained but the waitstaff listened and walked away. No attempt at rectifying the problem. The dish remained untouched. When it came time to pay, I refused to pay for raw chicken and the lady taking our money was rude and refused to take it off our bill. I put my foot down and made sure we didn't pay. This is the first time that I didn't leave a tip and I didn't feel bad one bit. Definitely disappointed that we wasted an evening out at this place. Never again! Spend your...
Read moreIf anyone wish to have a bad day in Byron, try 'Chicken Skewer' available on premium price.
Unfortunately I tried and here is my experience- Initial flavour was bland, quickly followed by a fetid, ammonia-like tang because skewer was half grilled and chewy. There was an aroma that recalled stale meat in butcher shop. I felt my eyes water up as I chewed. I tried to swallow and felt my entire GI tract prepare to purge. Not only the meat was below third-rate, the overall food portions was WAY TOO small for the money. With little salad and thinly spread humus that was covering 70% of overall food portion; inexorably, it dawned on me that I had paid $33 for that unflavoured and poorly executed dish. Not to mention the behaviour of the lady at counter and overall service was unpleasant.
Change the name of your restaurant and yes you guessed the new name right !!
In short, I would leave zero...
Read moreLooked good online but admittedly disappointing in real life. Unfortunately situated in the alley behind the Byron Hotel/Pub you have a lovely view of the bins and gutter etc. look it’s probably not so bad at night when there’s more people and probably a better vibe and maybe some nice lighting but in the heat of the day it’s not a great location. Food was ok, (I’ve definitely had better at much better value too) with a Chicken skewer pide plate shared for $36.79 it was a little light on to share for 2 and for that price you’d want a better ambience. Small jug of rose water lemon mint for $6.13. There was a handful of customers and it seemed like sufficient staff but still took perhaps 25 mins for food to come out which was too long for a place in an alley. Friendly enough staff. Loo would be a last resort if you can’t...
