Really lovely venue with a great atmosphere. Had some of the best oysters I’ve had in a while, great Bloody Mary’s, anchovies were beautiful too. King crab and lettuce tacos and crumbed fish tacos were a bit on the bland side and didn’t really measure up compared to the other stuff. We found service to be a bit disjointed — 3 different waitstaff coming up every few moments to take orders/check in. Would order with one then another would come to take our order moments later, then the other, so we were constantly being interrupted to say “we already ordered with your colleague” because they weren’t communicating with one another. Meant at times when we were deciding on a next dish we barely got a chance to look at the menu again before another staffer, then another, then another, interrupting us and rushing us to order. Then at the end when I went to pay, the one that was pushiest of them all even solicited us for a tip. Kind of rubs you the wrong way when service staff don’t focus on giving good service and then feel daring enough to suggest you tip. I feel if some of these kinks can be ironed out it would really be a top notch venue. It was almost there.

So nice we went twice ✌🏽I really enjoyed it here. The food was incredible and the ambiance was great! Also the staff was very welcoming and friendly and also prompt. The first time we came here we didn’t make a reservation and luckily we were able to make it just in time before other people had to wait. We sat down right away and began to order. I got the crab linguine and my wife ordered crab salad. Also how can I forget the amazing fish tacos as an appetizer! The fish tacos and the crab linguine was the highlight of food out here in Byron Bay! Then second time we came back was last night and we made a reservation through the phone with no problem to make on the same day. I ordered the same thing and my wife ordered just two fish tacos as her main dish. We also ordered the duck fat chips which was some awesome french fries. I definitely recommend it. It’s always busy so make sure to make a nice reservation with outside seating. The first time we sat inside but the second time we were able to to sit outside and face the streets and people watch. It was an all around 5/5 experience at the balcony. You will not be disappointed. 👍🏽

A hipster's paradise, charmingly decorated and the Oyster Happy Hour on Wednesdays (book ahead) for $1.50 each were fresh and more-ish (so my oyster-loving friend told me)... However. The drinks are cheap in quality but not in price - even for happy hour. And while there are plenty of servers, few are actually good. Although the wine is decent. Have tried the spiced cauliflower popcorn, the fish taco, the duck fat chips and the salt and pepper squid. Another review described the food as below par pub food. I would agree. The duck fat chips came with aioli - picture attached. No that's not snot but potentially a dried globule of aioli from some other person's meal. On the plus side, when I asked for a new tub of sauce, I got one that looked a lot better and the waiter was friendly and prompt. And the squid was good. Do I recommend this place? If you've never been before, it's worth visiting. But would I go back? Hmmm. If feeling like oysters and wine and can visit during happy hour, yes. Otherwise, probably not. Especially when you know that Jonson's is a 5 minute walk down the road - and their food is delicious, their drinks are quality and their service is gold...

Disappointing and that’s a compliment. A lovely place to sit. The food that we received was ok but nothing you can’t get anywhere else in Byron bay. Our waitress had a superiority complex and is clearly destined for greater things than working at the Balcony. We ordered calamari, sourdough, the fried cauliflower and the pea and avocado dip for starters. It came out reasonably quickly. It was hard to order a second drink as all the staff kept avoiding eye contact. After waiting over an hour another waitress came to tell us they were out of burgers and my son and his friend had to choose something else. 90 mins we waited a only to be told this. By this stage it’s 9:30 and our options to get anything else were very limited. Regardless we walked out. There are plenty of good options to eat in Byron. Don’t bother paying for a balcony view of Baskin Robbins.

Many reasons as to why such a high rating for me on this place, firstly our first night didn’t go as planned sadly so I sent a message on their internal review site. I’m so glad I did as the turn around and understanding was so professional and smooth. First we were contacted with apologies followed with a please come and try again so we can rectify what happened. So so glad we did, this just highlights that all businesses can have a down night or a bumpy moment. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves, the oysters were perfect, cocktails as always a treat and the location and service was fun and comfortable. So glad we had another try and bingo first experience now wiped from the memory and in its place is a super fun evening. A very well managed business with a strong customer focus.

Uhm. We order a crab burger I think it was. The meat was full on raw. When we told the waiter-she apologised and took the order back for a new one. When it came back it really didn’t taste amusing plus I think we were kind of over it. We order another meal along with the burger cause we wanted to try everything. The fish was absolutely amazing. I loved that in comparison to the crab. Only took a picture after having tried it. It smelt so good. But the presentation could have been better. I like the deco and vibe of the place though. There’s much to see just in the Restuarant alone. They have a cool stairway as well as cool seating arrangements. However the balcony is close to a busy street and it gets super loud during lunch. So I think Il give it a miss.
