Cafe Thailand offers a warm and inviting atmosphere right on the Esplanade, with friendly and attentive service that makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The staff were efficient and helpful, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was relaxed and pleasant—perfect for a casual night out or a meal with friends. The menu features a variety of classic Thai dishes, and we tried several, including the Thai-style fried rice, Penang curry, Thai basil chicken stir fry, and the peanut satay entree. The presentation of the dishes was lovely, and everything arrived promptly. The satay, in particular, stood out with its rich peanut sauce and tender skewers. That said, there’s still a bit of room for improvement when it comes to the food quality. While the flavours were generally good, some dishes could have used a bit more depth and balance in seasoning to really bring out the authentic Thai taste. The fried rice was satisfying but a touch on the dry side, and the Penang curry, while aromatic, could’ve had a richer, more robust flavour. Overall, Cafe Thailand delivers a solid dining experience with great service and ambiance. With a few tweaks to enhance the depth of flavour in their dishes, it could easily become a standout Thai spot in Cairns.

The atmosphere was average but the food and efficient waitress made up for that. Although the restaurant was a bit busy they prepared our food in not much time and it was delicious. Nothing wrong with it. The sweet and sour barramundi was by far the best thing we ordered. It was quite impressive. The water was served nice refreshing and cold. The restaurant was easy to locate as you can see by the photo attached. The food was cleaned out of the dish cause it was so delicious. Highly recommend

Sorry…But I didn’t get to eat here. I really wanted to as a friend had highly recommended it…This is what happened. I walked in and was told it was not licensed so go and buy what drinks we’d like and they’d charge a corkage. No problem. Love the BYO restaurants as you get to drink what YOU like. So I returned with a six pack of beer for my table and was told NO, they can only do wine, not BEER. Now I understand that is their liquor licence rules and I have no problem with that.. I have an issue with the poor communication from the front staff, backed and second checked by management as I went to the BWS to get a beer that it would be OK. Then upon return be told NO, you can’t bring beer back. Dear Management: Fix up your clear concise front room communication and I’ll be...

We were extremely disappointed with the food experience here. The staff were superb - efficient, welcoming and prompt - BUT the food! It tasted as though it had been prepared the day before and simply reheated (and even that wasn't done very successfully as the food was barely warm!) The entree's (curry puffs and Fish Cakes) were slimy, greasy and virtually tasteless. (My wife said "Bland" - but I had other words to describe them which can't be published!) The Green Curry AND the Yellow Curry we ordered were both also virtually tasteless (We had ordered 'mild' just in case.) with no indication of the presence of Chili. The 'sauce' was watered down to the degree that it was like dish water (and about as tasty). We have travelled through Thailand on more than one occasion and the food at this "restaurant" did not bring back ANY...
