Rattle n Hum Cairns Esplanade: A Must-Visit for Great Food, Drinks, Live Music, and Atmosphere!! That's my review in a nutshell....
I had the pleasure of dining at Rattle n Hum Cairns Esplanade in late July this year. I was part of a group that was up from Melbourne. Personally I was blown away by the experience. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, the beers were cold and refreshing, the food was amazing, and the live music was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone having a good time.
I started my meal with a cold beer and the wood-fired pepperoni pizza. The pizza was simply the best I've ever had in the world (8 countries worth anyway). The crust was perfectly cooked, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. I could have easily eaten two of them! I should have ordered two, because my mates ate most of mine :( I also ordered a side of fries, which were crispy and delicious. Also on the side, I stole some of my mates slow cooked BBQ pork ribs..... Absolutely brilliant!! I took some pics of the various dishes we got. Not a single complaint from anyone :)
After dinner, I enjoyed a few more drinks and listened to the live music. The 3 piece band was excellent, and they really got the crowd going. I had such a great time that I didn't want to leave!
I highly recommend Rattle n Hum Cairns Esplanade to anyone looking for a great place to eat, drink, and have a good time. The staff is amazing, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is electric. Be sure to try the wood-fired pepperoni pizza - it's the best you'll ever have!
I've told all my friends in Melbourne and Sydney to visit this establishment when in Cairns. It turns out that one of my friends met his current wife there as well :) Even though the staff was extremely busy, they always had a smile and a positive attitude with everyone. Ensure that you eat your pizza first before your mates tuck into it! Cheers RnH, can't wait to come back!! If I lived in Cairn's I'd most certainly...
Read moreStrolling along the Esplanade, you'll come across the booming jubilation of customers sitting along the kerbside. Their happy rattling and humming is synonymous to Rattle N Hum, a lounge bar with a glimmer of Australian magic. But on the inside are lacquered wooden furniture and dimmed lighting that welcome you into an atmospheric and intimate diner restaurant. But our reservation led us beyond the main room and out the back which is neatly decorated, quieter and more airy. We ordered a Rattle's Meatlovers pizza and baked Cajun barramundi and garlic prawns. There is minimal table service and you have to order and pick up your food at the counter. Nevermind that, the setting is absolutely fantastic and caters to anyone, but the food did not necessarily reflect its friendliness. Seeing their wood fired oven on display, I was keen to try out their pizzas. To may dismay, the meatlovers pizza was downright awful. There was nothing inherently wrong with the meats but it was the dough that completely devastated the entire dish. My expectations of handmade dough was shattered by their use of store bought dough with little to no give or chew. As a pizza lover, when I saw the gum line between the cheese and the dough, I was in for a horror. The pizza bases are pre-sauced before it is fired, resulting in the cheese and ingredients not fully adhering to the dough, revealing a dreadful image of patterned indents found on store bought dough (refer to photo). The crust was also distressing, extremely hard to bite and awfully sweet. For $22, it was an expensive serve of McCain frozen pizza. On a good note, the barramundi was well seasoned and tender with a juicy, terrific grilled sweetcorn and refreshing salsa on the side. The garlic prawns was delicately beautiful in flavour and mouthfeel, it had me wanting more to sweep away my pizza misery. If I were to return again or to advise anyone about Rattle n Hum, stay far far away...
Read moreCouldn’t believe how damn tasty the food was for a bar/pub. This place was our saving grace after a day of travel and forgetting to make a dinner reservation anywhere on NYE. After being turned away at multiple spots (understandably, we were worried we’d have to have Maccas), we were so happy to find a table here even though it was packed.
We did not have high hopes for the food but were hungry so over-ordered (or so we thought) but we ate up absolutely everything. The pizzas came out quickly and were a hit. Far superior to pizza we had a few days later from a dedicated pizzeria down the road. Had to stop ourselves from eating it all and getting full before the rest of our food came out. The full rack of ribs and the steak were 10/10. My brother lives for steak and he said it was one of the best he’s had not homecooked, the mash was also a standout; so buttery and so good. Ordering Thai Beef Salad and Fish Tacos at a bar is gamble that often doesn’t pay off but they were also very delicious here. Better than fish tacos I’ve had at some bougie cafes and rivaling some Mexican restaurants in Sydney. Our loaded fries also hit the spot big time. The only dish that could’ve been better and didn’t join the clean plate club was the buffalo wings. But overall an incredible meal. The big beers were also a highlight!
Everyone walked away so delighted at how the night turned out. This was our most unexpected meal of the trip and it ended up being our best. The boys wanted to go back and we...
