Called to book for Christmas lunch a couple of hours before as our homes had been flooded. My friend was a regular there & has introduced many people to the place. She wanted to shout us lunch to say thank you for help with flood clean up. The manager barely greeted us and immediately confronted us for money in an abrupt way before we’d even sat down or knew what food was on offer. It felt more like a visit from a debt collector than a warm welcome to Christmas lunch. There is a way to provide information that a restaurant is taking payment prior to orders that doesn’t have to kill the mood. Unfortunately this manager is unaware of this. When my friend arrived he did the same to her. She let him know she’d just lost everything in the flood. There was zero compassion or empathy. She paid for lunch for 4. We ordered lunch for 4. Another friend joined us for a drink who’d already had Christmas lunch. She picked at a few small food items of ours which we shared with her. The service was poor. We had to get up to ask for cutlery & stand there getting ignored for quite a while before getting it while our food waited on the table. The vibe from staff was negative & indifferent. During lunch, the manager again confronted my friend to ask for more money. She was charged for food for 5 people despite food for only 4 being provided. They brought out a 5th unwanted dessert. I tried to call to talk to the main manager and was messed around so much, I gave up & am writing this review instead.
My friends and I will never return again. When word gets out how Oaks Rooftop treated people who’d just lost everything in floods, many more friends...
Read moreWe made a booking for 6 people, when we arrived we were sat down at a table in the middle of the place which obviously wasn’t what we came there for but no big complaints. Staff were lovely except for one waitress who was extremely rude, told us it was our fault when they mixed up multiple things on our order. She told her that we should’ve told her earlier that we were missing a bowl of chips on our table. All three steaks we ordered were warmish on the outside but ice cold in the middle. When we asked for a refund on our chips she told us that it would just be easier for them to make the chips, as we already had 3 bowls of chips on our table that were uneaten we clearly didn’t need them. She insisted on bringing us chips until we had to demand for a refund. I do not want to name and shame but this staff member was just all up rude and inconsiderate, telling us it was our fault that we didn’t tell her sooner that we got a mocha instead of a cappuccino and that we didn’t tell her that we didn’t get our chips, which obviously we assumed were still coming until later when they never did so we wanted to wait until she wasn’t busy to ask about a refund on the chips. All up was a bad experience and will not be going back. The pork tacos...
Read moreYes the view is amazing but that's about it. Started off with a male server with an accent and Christmas necklace being rude, the only server who was nice was an asain lady who was just walking by. Staff should be trained on how to collect plates properly as my local pub has better table etiquette.
Food way over priced. $34 for the lamb was not worth it and was served with mash peas and grapes 🤮 plated nicely but again that's it. Barramundi was over cooked and the sauce it was served in was bland - over priced.
Advertised karagge chicken however what is served is just plain chicken and no flavour or seasoning. Japanese people would cry if they knew what was being passed off as Karaage.
Google asked me to comment about specific things: kid friendly I'd say no but then again I wouldn't expect a place like this to be. As a parent I wouldn't take my child here in the first place. Parking, well it's cairns cbd so there is no parking haha! Wheelchair accessible yes! Great to see.
So very disappointing overall. I was truly looking forward to this place and had saved up to go here for a special night. I guess my expectations are too high and fine dining has lost its...
