After visiting the Twelve Apostles at Great Ocean Road on February 13, 2024, my family and I were driving back to Melbourne. The weather was really cold, around 5 degrees Celsius. On the way, in a suburban area, we saw a Chinese restaurant. Feeling hungry, we decided to stop by and have dinner. The food was good. That night, many restaurants were already closed, so we were lucky this Chinese restaurant was still open, although it was almost closing time. Food: Nice taste, not bad. Many choices of Chinese dishes. Service: Good and friendly. It's a family business. Location: In the suburbs.

Delicious Chinese food! Served with lots of love and care! Me and my husband visited this place a year ago! And we were so delighted with food while heading back to Melbourne after seeing 12 apostles! We could not forget the taste and kept on remembering the taste! Today we are back and even happier! Long live this restaurant 😍

There is NO decent Chinese/Cantonese food in Colac.

After spending over $60 on takeaway...got NO free prawn crackers...seriously how stingey are you?

The chicken & sweet corn soup was just horrible....NO chicken taste whatsoever.

Just tasted like corn...NO sliced spring onions....NO pieces of discernable chicken....ended up throwing it out....expensive rubbish.

Sing Bo & Golden Lin Roing both have the same weird, strange & tasteless pieces of "chicken" in their soup.

It's definitely NOT pieces of real chicken....it's has absolutely NO chicken meat like texture, flavour, colour, smell or appearance....it looks like tripe or something along those lines....it's pure white & grissly/rubbery.

The steamed dim sims were probably the best part of the whole meal.....but they were NOT fantastic.

The honey chicken was very disappointing....it had too much batter, not enough chicken & the honey sauce was NOT great.

Honestly even though Golden Lin Roing is horrible too....I must admit that their special fried rice & honey chicken were better than Sing Bo's.

The sweet/sour pork was also very disappointing....it had too much batter, not enough pork & the sweet/sour sauce was OK.....BUT it had raw bits of onion & carrot in it.

I must admit that at least Sing Bo's sweet/sour sauce was more flavour balanced than Lam's Marble Dragon sweet/sour sauce.

The special fried rice was extremely average.

Honestly most of the honey chicken & sweet/sour pork that I have eaten from the Shopping Centre style Food Courts is 10 times better than ANY of the Chinese restaurants in Colac.

Lam's Marble Dragon is very expensive & their sweet/sour sauce is extremely unbalanced....it's just way too sour...also has no vegetables or pineapple in it.

I haven't tried Lam's Marble Dragon chicken & sweet corn soup yet....that will be something I try soon to see if they get their "chicken" pieces for their soup from the same place as Sing Bo & Golden Lin Roing 😂🤣

Where have the OLD SCHOOL sweet/sour sauces gone????

They were rich, thick, sticky & perfectly flavour balanced.

They ALWAYS had cooked vegetables in them such as onion, tomato, capsicum (red & green), pineapple....sometimes there would even be extra vegetables like snow/sugar-snap peas, baby sweet corn, carrots, spring onions, broccoli, celery, etc.

The closest OLD SCHOOL & best tasting sweet/sour chicken I've had in Colac is from Mango Thai.

However....it is a Thai style sweet/sour....NOT a Chinese/Cantonese style....so it is a little bit different....the chicken is NOT battered.

But it does have the OLD SCHOOL style vegetables & pineapple in it....it's actually quite yummy....with a well balanced flavour profile.

At Mango Thai you can say what level of chilli you want....you can also ask for extra or less for things like ginger, garlic, etc.

The fried rice from Mango Thai is also quite nice & tasty....but again it's NOT what most people would associate a traditional "special fried rice" with....it's a Thai style fried rice.

The best fried rice I've eaten in Colac so far is from Rock Daisy Cafe....I've had their bacon & egg fried rice a few times now....they also have a lovely soya sauce that tastes likes it's infused with ginger in it.

Rock Daisy Cafe is based on...

Delicious fresh tasting food at a reasonable price. Friendly staff. Nice interior.

Unfortunately quite a few dishes/main ingredients were unavailable when going to order (no calamari, no bean curd, no deep fried ice-cream even though they have ice-cream =/ ).

Service was quite poor after ordering, requiring to leave the table to ask for further drinks and a wait to pay, seeming under staffed.

The restaurant needs to address some cleaning & maintenance issues which may be a possible health concern as at our table in the second room we were sitting near the window with an extremely dirty air conditioner regularly dripping from above the seating and table area requiring us to sit away from that side of the table. The toilet area/door also seemed dirty and having a staff member killing a fly next to a seated table is not something I would expect when dining.

Would definitely come back for the excellent food but hopefully the restaurants dining experience will improve in the near future, would definitely give a higher...

Very disappointed by the service provided..would never go back again. we group of 9 had preferences such as no beef, pork and egg on the meals for which we wore being told that $1 will be charged for every meal. Hoever, We did accepted their condition. Adding to it, the meals served wore almost similar to each other and were tasteless too though their names wore different. Chicken smell wasn't fresh either. Lastly while paying the bill, we wore charged $9 for warm water that was served. When asked where is it mentioned, they ended up showing is their chinese menu from the...
