As I walked into the Japanese Bento restaurant, I couldn't help but feel a sense of neutrality. The modest decor and simple furnishings were nothing to write home about, but I was there for the food, not the ambiance.
I decided to order the classic bento box, hoping to get a taste of everything the restaurant had to offer. The rice was cooked to perfection, the teriyaki chicken was tender, and the vegetables were crisp. I must admit, I was impressed with the presentation of the box. It almost looked too good to eat. Almost.
As for the sushi rolls, they were decent enough. The California roll was a bit bland for my liking, but the spicy tuna roll had a nice kick to it. The selection was average, nothing too out of the ordinary.
One thing that did catch my attention was the low prices. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to break the bank to enjoy a decent meal.
But what really stood out was the fact that the restaurant gave me a free dish that was about to spoil. I mean, I appreciate the gesture, but it did make me wonder about the freshness of some of the other dishes.
