Valentino's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Devonport

My wife and I came here for a Birthday dinner on the 23rd of April.

We both got the lasagne with chips.

Upon arriving, we were met with confusion as our names had been crossed out and the table we were meant to be on was taken, however the greeter was able to find us another table and seemed apologetic.

Sadly the table we were moved to was right beside an open window on a chilly Sunday night.

The wait was approx 40 minutes, which given how busy the restaurant was, that was acceptable. The drinks themselves took about 10 minutes and no water was ever offered.

In regards to the food, it was dreadful. The lasagne was very greasy and bitter. I found out later into my meal that this was due to the lasagne sheet being burnt. The mince was in massive clumps. The chips were ok. Nothing special.

If the lasagne was 16-20 dollars, I would have just moved on, however for burnt, oily lasagne, they charged 28 dollars each. There was also either no bechamel or it was incredibly limited. Made a booking a few days out for 17 people at 6.30pm on a Wednesday night. Table was allocated and waitress came and collected order for drinks and food not long after we sat down. Drinks were delivered very promptly, however the food was not, after noticing the kitchen sending out many boxes for deliveries and takeaway, I asked at 7.20 how long the meals would be, and the response was 10-20 minutes. I asked again at 7.45 and the waitress said its coming very soon, It was still notices that many meals were being provided for delivery services, and it was clear they are prioritising the delivery services over the in restaurant customers in order to maintain speed for ratings in apps. Finally, the meals got delivered to the table at around 8.10pm. I do not recommend visiting this restaurant. The Meet d'lish pizza had burnt cheese on top, the ham was not cooked well due to the excess levels of ham piled on, and the pizza was very oily. My husband and I were part of a party of 6 booked for 6:00 on Friday night for dinner prior to going to the theatre at 7:30 pm. We arrived about 10 minutes prior to booking. Our orders for drinks were taken immediately and then a short time about 6:05 pm our food orders. Our drinks came and the restaurant quickly filled up with diners and take away customers. A second round of drinks was ordered. One of the six food orders - pizza and chips arrived just after 7:00 pm. at which point we asked about the second round of drinks which was promptly delivered. We then asked how long the other meals would be, due to going to a show. Four more meals arrived. Spaghetti with prawns. The serving was small and lacked sauce. The two servings of Lamb Shanks were very generous. A bed of mash would have made the dish way better. A small Chicken Caeser Salad arrived minus the chicken and minimal dressing.
