This was such a surprising unexpected find in Devonport, a decent Vietnamese restaurant.
Located in the Williams Street commercial strip, is this small unassuming cafe. It’s open for lunch and dinner (11:00am-3pm & 5-8:30pm) six days a week, closed Sundays.
The cafe has limited seating and on a Monday night they were turning away some customers, although they were doing a reasonable takeaway trade.
The menu is relatively small but the dishes all appeared to be done really well. I ordered the Bao buns to start and my wife the prawn dumplings. The buns were light, soft and fluffy - just as they should be and the bbq chicken was succulent but the crispy prawns blew me away - large fresh local prawns - yum. My wife said the same things about her prawn dumplings. I went onto to have the vegetarian fried rice with roasted pork belly and wife had the Pho with bbq chicken and seasonal greens. The standout for me was the roasted pork belly, absolutely delicious. My wife spoke highly about how packed full of flavour the broth in the Pho was, she loved it.

Read moreViet Eat is a wonderful little Vietnamese Takeaway shop in the heart of four-ways. The food is delicious, the service is delightful and the atmosphere is solid.
I ordered the calamari in a small takeaway size - it came with a generous serving of perfectly cooked calamari with a deliciously refreshing mint salad.
I came in to order and was greeted with a smile. When I asked about how long the order would take, I was told 'five minutes', lo and behold it came even sooner than that. Furthermore, I stood outside to have a smoke and the attendant walked out to give me my food! Wonderful service.
The atmosphere is alright - it's a smaller shop sat in the middle of four-ways, but still manages to be comfortable.
Overall, this is a great stop for a quick lunch or a...
