We’ve always loved Sankalp food and have visited almost every branch across Australia during our travels. However, our recent experience was very disappointing in terms of both service and hygiene.
Usually, Gujaratis are known for their warm and welcoming nature, but unfortunately, we didn’t feel welcomed at all. No one greeted us or came to check if everything was okay during the meal.
The dosa was served on a plate that was far too small — about 30% of it was hanging off the edge ( I wish I should have taken a photo), and there was no space at all to place the chutneys. It was uncomfortable to eat. The chutney jars were also very dirty on the outside, which made us feel that they weren’t properly cleaned and were simply being reused.
We ordered the sizzling brownie, which is the only brownie option on the menu and something we always enjoy. This time, when I poured the chocolate syrup in front of the staff, it didn’t sizzle at all. I touched the brownie and it was cold. When I mentioned this, I was asked, “Do you think it’s cold?” I replied, “I don’t think — I know it’s cold because I just touched it.” Only then was it taken back and warmed.
While it was being served again, our kids asked us for tissues and spoons in front if the staff but were ignored. After not getting the help, I asked them to grab some from another table. I did ask for the spoon which was then grabbed from another table aswell, but shockingly, they were held from the spoon’s mouth, which was very unhygienic (we felt no basic manners, atleast in front of the customers). I could have asked the staff again, but I wanted to observe their response and service attitude. Sadly, there was no apology, no check-in to ask how the food was, or how our experience had been overall.
We were also surprised that the sizzling brownie was served without ice cream. When asked why, we were told, “That’s how you ordered it.” But we simply asked for two sizzling brownies — and there’s only one kind on the menu, which comes with ice cream. This has never happened at any other Sankalp branch.
Overall, we were very disappointed. We hope this feedback is taken in the right spirit, as we truly love the brand and want to see it maintain its high standards across the branches.
P.S. we visited the restaurant on Thursday from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Three families in total and third family left within 30 minutes, so we were just 2 small families and it wasn't busy atall. I would think of visiting it in...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Sankalp Belconnen, an Indian restaurant that left an indelible impression on me. From the moment I stepped foot in the restaurant, I knew I was in for a delightful culinary journey.
The first thing that struck me was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff at Sankalp Belconnen were incredibly friendly and attentive. They greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel right at home. Their knowledge of the menu was impressive, and they were more than happy to recommend dishes based on our preferences.
Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, what a treat it was! Sankalp Belconnen serves some of the most authentic and delicious Indian cuisine I have ever tasted. Every dish was bursting with flavors, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. From the aromatic spices to the rich textures, each bite was a true delight. The menu offered a wide range of options, catering to different dietary preferences and spice levels, ensuring there was something for everyone.
I highly recommend trying their dosas, which were absolutely phenomenal. The thin, crispy crepes filled with flavorful fillings were a true revelation. The masala dosa, in particular, was outstanding. The accompanying chutneys and sambar added an extra layer of depth to the dish, making it a symphony of flavors.
The attention to detail in the presentation of the food was also remarkable. Each dish was elegantly plated, showcasing the culinary artistry behind it. It was evident that the chefs at Sankalp Belconnen take great pride in their craft and strive for excellence.
In addition to the delectable food and friendly staff, the ambiance of the restaurant was comfortable and inviting. The tastefully decorated interior created a pleasant dining environment, perfect for both intimate dinners and group gatherings.
Overall, my experience at Sankalp Belconnen was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of outstanding food, friendly staff, and inviting ambiance made it a truly memorable dining experience. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or looking to explore new flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend Sankalp Belconnen, and I can't wait to return for another...
Read moreWe came in for the special Wednesday offer! First, since it was specials, we had asked for it and were informed 3 items were excluded. We ordered 6 dosas in total. We waited for 1 hour and then got served! People who came after us, got served first and left as well! The wait was too much. When the food arrived, it was not even warm. It was just cold. It was tasty, but cold. Hence 4 star for the food.
We received 7 dosas, but ordered 6, and when we confronted the lady who served us, she was just so rude and stubborn. She was just not ready to accept that the did a mistake but then ‘Diksha’ took over and served us so professionally and nicely! Loved her! She solved our issue so nicely and even offered some compensation for the mistake that the other girl did.
While checking out, we discovered that 2 of the dosas ordered weren’t in the specials, which was not informed to us by the lady. Like I said before, she was stubborn and for this as well, she was saying ‘no I did inform y’all’, which wasn’t the fact.
But all in all, just because of Diksha and the taste of the food, I gave such good ratings or else it would be 1 star.
Just a side note to the owners: it is totally understandable if you guys serve late, but it would be greatly appreciated if the delay is acknowledged. Just inform the customers the approximate time for their food to be served.
If you are taking time to prepare, please make sure the food is warm if not hot at least.
Lastly, it’ll be amazing if you guys have more people like Diksha who knows to accept and...
