Bought 4 x 10 rotis/$5 each yesterday for a party of 20 guests. came home to a pungent smell in one of the roti packets that had gone off and called bharat asking for an exchange or a refund. The lady on the phone had, at first, denied me a refund or an exchange and then upon arguing, agreed on the condition that the supplier refund her money first. She also insisted that the roti's sell out everyday and she gets fresh stock in. However, without the date of manufacture and the date of expiry/best before printed on it, "fresh" is a very vague description of time, especially when a pack of the lot is clearly stale. Instead of making purchases, exchanges and refunds easy, they complicate the process for themselves and for the customer. I understand that food has the capacity of going off however, had this process been easier, I probably wouldn't have left a (bad) review.
I fail to understand why my refund or exchange needs to depend on the supplier when i'm purchasing it from the store. The store needs to take the responsibility of the product, atleast in terms of ensuring the expiry dates of products stacked on shelves, the freshness of "fresh" food etc.- and deal with all complaints at their end without the extra inconvenience of having their customers wait till the supplier makes the final call. Maybe also realising that the customer doesn't deserve stale food or bad health for their money, and that the best thing that could be done is to make the rest of the process easy (and the customer happy!) is probably the best way forward.
UPDATE: Just got a call from the store offering to exchange my packet of rotis at a very inconvenient time tomorrow. There is an exchange...
Read moreI feel compelled to share my concerns. It appears that the store has some issues with removing expired products from their shelves, which is quite disappointing.
While browsing through the aisles, I noticed several instances where items past their expiration dates were still on display. It is crucial for a grocery store to prioritize the well-being of its customers by ensuring that only fresh and safe products are available for purchase.
I understand that managing stock and monitoring expiration dates can be challenging, especially in a busy retail environment. However, it is essential for the store management to take proactive measures to address this issue. Regular inventory checks and proper staff training could significantly improve the situation.
To avoid purchasing expired products, I strongly advise shoppers to carefully inspect the expiry dates of individual items before making a purchase. It might be time-consuming, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
I hope that the store management takes immediate action to rectify the issue of expired products on their shelves. Customers should be able to shop with confidence, knowing that the products they purchase are fresh and within their optimal...
Read moreUPDATED : Seems that team Bharat has gotten back on track. Recently tried the tandoori again, absolutely delish, as was all the other items we had. I appreciate the response and the effort from the team.
The low review is due to DANGER surrounding expired products and expired food. We ordered some tandoori chicken that was absolutely rank. I am fairly certain the chicken was rancid and unfit for consumption and it gave us a stomach upset and diarrhoea.
This was only one time for us with the takeaway food, but that's one time too many for us to risk coming back and contracting some serious disease.
If anybody has expired products from them and a receipt, I implore you to contact the health inspector - I foolishly threw out the receipt before checking the product.
RESPONSE : Thank you for your reply Team Bharat. Yes, I'll come by some time to try your food again, I hope you can rectify...
