Great place, we had so much fun! Karaoke rooms and the karaoke system supplied are both VERY DATED and the system has a limited catalogue of 80’s tracks. ALSO, whilst the staff are winners, the lady manager is a super grump! She was extremely rude when one of our party stood on the seat in the karaoke room, whilst in the throws of ripping out a killer song. She came in like an old Karen scolding her kids. Ps Manager Karen, have a chill pill ya grump and be nicer. We ain’t bad people, girls just wanna have fun Karen! WE BROKE ONE RULE KAREN! We said sorry Karen! We didn’t see any rules stating to not stand on a seat whilst ripping a tune!!! Anyways! Great place with substandard and run down Karaoke rooms. Save your money and go to kingpin. The rooms are way nicer and the system has a LOT more songs. You can still have a drink if you...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic. I often visit 88 with friends to have a dance and enjoy the old school hits. Recently booked one of their karaoke rooms for my birthday; I’ll say it again, absolutely fantastic. Everything from the booking process to the actual night was smooth, easy and organised for me. I sent through an email off their website, Dean in the office gave me all my options, organised it all and we were away, done and dusted.
Shout out to 88’s bartenders and managers as well. These guys are terrific. Full of humour and happy to help, couldn’t have asked for better service. Hayden and Max took care of us on the night, super helpful with the karaoke machines, answered everyone’s questions and made some fantastic drinks...
I would definitely come back for another event even if it is just to video those shameful karaoke tunes of...
Read moreHave been here quite a few times. The punters make this a fun place and there is a lot of goodwill between them and a lack of aggro despite the crowded boozy atmosphere. Just a shame that the staff aren't on the same page and seem to go out of their way to make it a less than enjoyable experience...they seem to forget who is paying their wages. Bar staff are disinterested. The dancefloor bouncer is the grumpiest and most interventionist (in an unnecessarily aggressive manner) that I've come across in 30 years...stands right on the edge of the dancefloor looking to pounce on anyone having some fun...always great to feel like you're at school when trying to have an adult night out. Most sensible nightclubs realise that security should be as discreet as possible and should be more of an insurance policy rather than being...
