Just a word of warning for anyone gluten intolerant: I have ordered from here a number of times and have previously had good experiences. My one star review is based off this one experience which unfortunately is a large mistake: I am gluten intolerant, and usually, when I order a gluten-free pho, it comes with rice vermicelli instead of the chunky rice noodles (which are often mixed with wheat flour - I know this as I have searched far and wide for a gluten free brand of pho noodles so I could make it at home [with no success]). I ordered take away via Uber Eats today (requesting gluten free in my order) and when my order arrived it had chunky rice noodles. I called the store to let them know that I thought I'd received a non-gluten free order. The person on the phone assured me that the noodles were gluten free. After chatting with the person I checked the menu online which said 'Pho can be gluten free with vermacelli or tapioca noodles' so I called back to let them know that I did not think the chunky rice noodles were gluten free. They told me again it was (letting me know that 'their friend who is gluten intolerant can eat them') so I took their word, thinking maybe they'd changed the recipe. Fast forward roughly six hours and I feel incredibly ill and how I usually feel when I accidentally eat gluten. I called the store back just now to ask if the pho is gluten free (I did not mention I'd ordered earlier today) and (a different person) on the phone informed me that the pho is not gluten free but can be made gluten free if it comes with rice vermacelli.

This is the only meal I've eaten today and therefore is the only thing I can put it down to where I have been 'gluten poisoned' from. I understand mistakes happen, but I even called twice to make sure my order was gluten free. I hope that the restaurant would be much more careful...

Customer service was completely appalling from our entrance to our payment. Upon entry we were not greeted in the friendliest of manners, placed our orders and received our orders with one of them not being what we ordered which took 3 times to rectify. Upon rectifying it, the server that brought the wrong order to us seemed visibly dissatisfied and annoyed and insisted that we did order what was brought to us. Sadly though this wasn't the worst part of our night. My friend and i tasted the pork chop and there was a peculiar flavour to it which we believe stemmed from the meat having gone bad and hence called for one of the servers who we believe happens to be the owner. We merely brought it to her attention and told her that we would like a replacement. She then told us that if we got a replacement, we would have to pay for the initial one as well and so my friend said that he wasnt going to order anything else and that he would just pay for it and to just take the food away which they did. We then thought it was over and five minutes later the owner returned and started insisting that their food was good and everything was fresh and so my friend said that there was no point arguing because he felt it wasnt fresh and if she kept insisting it was then they would just get nowhere especially since he said he would pay for it already. That alone probably lasted for 10 minutes. We then got up to pay for our food and she asked us if paypass was okay and so we agreed not knowing that there was a 2 dollar surcharge attached to it. We then saw the sign and asked her about it and said that she could have at least told us and she just got annoyed and said that the sign was right there and if we didnt understand the sign we could have just asked. All in all, worst customer service experience and we'll never go...

The food here wasn't bad but the attitude of the water and the missing items from the dishes have put us down. I ordered the Spicy Beef Noodle soup. This dish always comes with a side salad/vegie, which is a combination of shredded lettuce and cabbage, someplaces would mix some beansprout in it too. I can't have beansprout and told the waitress that to leave out the beansprout from the side salad. I end up getting no side salad and no lemon for me noodle. When I questioned why, the very rude Vietnamese waiter said to me. 'It was you said that you don't eat beansprout, hence, you don't get the salad'. I find it very hard to believe as a Vietnamese who had this dish many times in many different restaurants. Since when the side salad for Spicy Beef Boodle soup has beansprout only. If this place claims that they are serving authentic Vietnamese, they have to own it and service it right to the customers. Anyway, a very nice waitress came to me after and offer the side salad with lettuce only. To those whose reading my comment, please note that 'Spicy Beef Noodle Soup' does come with side salad, which is different from the raw beansprout you get when you order Pho. The 'Spicy Beef Noodle Soup' tasted fine but it had so much MSG in it and it kept me awake at night. My Husband ordered Vemicilli noodle with grill pork. When he asked for more dipping sauce. He was given the raw fish sauce, the one you use for cooking, not the one that has been diluted with lemon and sugar as a dipping sauce. What is a...

Decided to visit Bistro Nguyen's after seeing the high rating on Google. The location, very close to Canberra Central/Centre was very easy to get to. When I arrived, I was quite excited, there's a nice hustle and bustle about the restaurant. I was expecting quite a lot from this restaurant. I ordered the Honey Glazed Fried Sweet Potato as an entree. Firstly, this was not pleasant at all. The batter was thick and there was next to no flavour on this at all. I would highly not recommend this to anyone at all. For mains, we ordered Pho. The Wagyu Beef Pho sounded special so we wanted to try it, to be honest, it didn't feel any different to a normal Special Beef Pho which was our other dish. In terms of soup base, it was watery, flavour was lacking. The pho noodles itself, they ok. A bit undercooked at parts, a bit rough and hard at others. Just lacked that real smooth silky feel. Bathrooms are located up the stairs and were not in a good state at all. Would I come back? Short answer, no. It was ok, and I think I would try every other cuisine in the area before returning. In terms of why it has a 4+star review on google, I have no idea. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement.

Been here a dew years ago for dinner. Was ok. Though I really don't remember sitting on a holey, torn up seat. Was wondering whether it was to go with the street cafe look!? Was with my family this time and I ordered their Hu Thieu (excuse my spelling) whilst the rest of my family went for Pho and Bun Bo Hue. I was a bit disappointed with mine as the broth was a bit tasteless. I prepare food with less salt at home and hence when I eat out, salt "rich" food hits me, but this was the opposite. Bland soup. 😔 I tried my family members' broths and they were ok. So maybe it was just mine that turned out like that. It was a busy lunch day with it being Mother's day. DO NOT order the vietnamese spring roll. It tasted more like minimised Chinese spring roll. Ao disappointed in that! Service was good, though only one waiter had a big smile on his face. The other looked like he had got out of the wrong side of the bed. Perhaps it was too busy a time than usual for him. Dessert was good, coffee was nicely served in the drip can with less condensed milk than usually served in Viet Nam. All in all good food for quick lunch this side of city, though I shall not venture here again.
