My recent dining experience at Asian Noodle House in Dickson left me with mixed feelings about the overall visit. While the food was passable, the service and attention to detail fell short of expectations, resulting in a rather disappointing outing.
Starting with the positives, the menu offered a decent selection of Asian noodle dishes. Although the flavors were just okay and didn't quite stand out, they provided a satisfying meal for our group. However, it was the service that left a significant dent in the overall experience.
One particular instance was the coconut juice we ordered. To our dismay, it had an off-putting chemical taste that was impossible to ignore. We brought this to the attention of the staff, hoping for a swift resolution. Regrettably, it took the intervention of the owner or manager after we expressed our dissatisfaction for any action to be taken. While the explanation regarding a supplier change was provided, it's crucial to note that the taste of a beverage shouldn't be compromised by such changes. Customer experience should be the priority, regardless of supplier modifications.
Furthermore, the beef crispy noodle dish had an unexpected sour note that left us questioning its intended flavor profile. This inconsistency raised doubts about the quality control in the kitchen, affecting our overall perception of the establishment.
In conclusion, while Asian Noodle House in Dickson has the potential to offer a satisfying meal, the lack of professionalism in addressing customer concerns and the inconsistencies in flavor left a negative impression. It's my hope that the management will take these feedback points into serious consideration to elevate the dining experience for future patrons. As it stands, I left the restaurant with a sense of disappointment that overshadowed...
Read moreDickson Asian Noodle House Jumbo Laksa Canberra, a purpose built concrete playground for our ever revolving door of prime ministers and their cronies. It’s a nice place, I like it. It’s damn cold though and I’m not talking about the hearts of those mentioned above which is why Dickson Asian Noodle House is a sanctuary on a winters morning. Their Laksa’s come in two sizes. Half jumbo size or Jumbo size. I’m quite unsure as to how they came up with this naming convention - it’s kind of like calling an average sized human a half sized giant. I digress. The jumbo laksa’s came to our table. My order of some chopped chili/sambal on the side ended up in the soup, never fear though there’s nothing like opening up them sinuses! This is a delicious bowl of soup. The ingredients are absolutely piled in, so much so the amount of broth you receive is minimal in comparison. It’s a tasty affair though. 2 types of noodles, Pieces of delicious duck, prawns and chicken ever present nestled amongst a rich aromatic broth that opens up the senses and opens up my mind about a city that seems like a drunken town planner threw a dart at a map of Australia and said. Yep that’s where the capital should be. Some say this is the best laksa in Australia! It’s definitely a special soup and one I will continue to visit for many years to come.

I always get a little concerned when your meal is at your table within minutes of you sitting there. It didn't taste super fresh, obviously portions are prepared earlier for dinner service, but some aspects of your meal should still be cooked at order. The chicken and egg noodles were definitely not fresh, tasted frozen/reheated and the noodles were either old or undercooked (they were a bit on the hard side). The tofu was tough on the outside and dry inside.
I think the most ridiculous aspect of this restaurant is that they have no credit card feature, eftpos only with a $30 minimum....?!?! it's 2015... and you had PLENTY of customers on a Wednesday night.
If you want cheap, just above fast food service style food, that is good/average, then you will have an enjoyable meal at this place.
Anyone saying this place is the 'best laksa in Canberra' either hasn't tried many laksas, or Canberra doesn't have any great...
