I booked online for five (5) people for today, on the website. I received an email saying I had and then the reminder in the photo, below. The staff could not find the booking. It was just lucky that there was room at a communal table. I have come from Melbourne and a critical part of the trip was to see my friends who have two small children (who, with me, made the 5). I arrived early, which is just as well, or else there would have been no seating for us. I walk with a walking stick. When I asked staff for my booked table, they did not mention that I had to get our menus, or order at the counter. That would have been great to know before I sat down. All our meals were good. However, my friend paid for a hot pancake and icecream. The staff said they could not find a docket saying he had. Then the pancake came, but without the ice cream. I’ve never left a bad review for any place before. I feel compelled to, for this café, because it is in such a great building, with pleasant surrounds. It would be a waste for it to not optimally use that. I hope the staff’s laissez faire attitude is just a matter of poor training - and not because the staff are underpaid or otherwise treated badly. (I’ve neither seen not heard any evidence that that’s the case.)

Came here on a Thursday for their trivia night and it was such an incredible experience. This place is located in a 10 mins walking distance away from Swinden Street. The ambience is absolutely lovely, and the energy for trivia throughout the venue was immaculate. We had a reservation booked and if it weren’t for the reservation, I’m sure it would’ve been hard to get a table. I got a dirty chai latte which was REALLY good and so was the potato salad, would recommend getting that dish as a shareable on the table. My friend got a vegan lactose free pizza and he said it was one of the best vegan pizzas he’s ever had. The staff is very kind, and the emcee of the trivia makes sure everyone has fun and is engaged throughout. If I lived in Canberra, I would’ve loved to apply here as an Emcee! Their trivia questions were super fun filled, including a simulated duck race, and all of their Trivia slides were so so well designed and curated. MUST have experience in Canberra!

Canberra, downer Update 26/2/23, bacon and egg roll here is definitely the real deal, maybe a tad over the top with bacon or is it just me? I prefer just 1 rasher at most. Egg was cooked to perfection. The plum cake is good as ever, not the mediocre cake that is doused in syrup. Village friendly feel and not your high end snoot. Located adjacent to parkland on the northside of city. Great coffee and cakes served here. Bacon cooked on the spot the way I like it, not like woodbark. Definitely worth the trouble seeking this place out +

Hi

I’ve now had two negative experiences at Gang Gang.

The first time was a few months ago. We came for dinner around 6pm on a Friday or Saturday night (I can’t recall exactly which), and were told you had run out of pizza dough. I ordered a Coke instead to at least support a local business, but was told that was out of stock too. We ended up leaving and going to Tradies for dinner and drinks.

Tonight, I decided to give Gang Gang another chance and came with a friend at 6:20pm for dinner and drinks. At 7.15pm a staff member came over to scan tickets for a comedy show. This was the first we had heard of it—we weren’t told when we ordered that there was an event happening. He informed us that since we didn’t have tickets, we would need to leave the inside area by 7:30pm and move outside. It was cold, and honestly, quite unwelcoming.

We stayed inside to finish our order, but during that time we were made to feel uncomfortable with unfriendly looks from the staff member. We left at 7:40pm.

I don’t understand how a business can operate this way—running out of food and drinks on a weekend, not informing customers about events when they order, and then making them feel pushed out after paying for dinner and drinks. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning or recommending Gang...

Sorry but as a local/semi regular I'm constantly frustrated at this place and I run my own hospitality venue. It has a lot going for it, but I finaly had enough tonight at curry night. Firstly it came out cold, returned it to be heated up, how can you serve the only dish you are serving -cold?. We witnessed 5/8 bowls sitting on the pass for quite a while. Not enough staff to serve in a timely manner. $20 curry with a beer sound like good value, which It could have been, but 3/4 spoons of curry and rest was rice is definitely not... After we ate we saw other bowls going to other people, which where honestly double the portion size in bigger bowls, all the people with me thought the same, we left hungry and frustrated at this venue -again. I spoke to the guy serving, his response was to email in rather then actually sort it. He did try to say it was the same size but honestly you could see the difference.

staff are friendly but honestly I see lots need training, can't handle it when it's busy like on weekends, shouldnt have to wait 20/30 min for a coffee, you probably need more staff on.

Food is typically good but limited and on the expensive side where as a local joint it could be cheeper not city prices, you would drop in 1/2 more...
