The customer service at this place was astonishingly revolting: the owner Eve was rude. I booked a table for 25 ppl for a surprise bday dinner for my cousins' bday. I initially place a booking for 45 ppl, which I received a confirmation call from them two days before my booking. I then rang up on the day of our booking as requested by Eve to finalise the total numbers of people for our table. I had spoken to Eve two times on the day of my booking within a 5 mins gap to alter the total number of people for our table. And confirmed that we would have a table for 25ppl at 730pm.
Being that it was a surprise, some of my guests arrived 10mins earlier than the initial 730pm booking time. Which we were placed at a table and asked to wait till 730pm as there was a group that was meant to finish at 730pm, and then they connect the two table to complete our group booking.
That was fine! So the earlier arrivals waited. One of my family members went and kindly asked at 730pm if our table is ready. As our guests had arrived. She replied, "wait im asking the other group to leave". Which I would note that she actually did not once at all tell the people at the table and then asked that we should go and let them know. My cousin kindly approached the table to inform them of the disruption and they said she never once came and asked them that they needed to be finished at 730pm.
I waited a few minutes and the rest of our people had arrived. At 734pm I approached Eve to ask her about my booking for 25ppl, and she responded in a rude, harsh tone " you just need to wait for 10mins" I said, "we can't wait we have a booking for 25ppl and I booked it and confirmed it with you today".
Eve rudely replied, " If you can't wait then you can leave this restaurant, and I will cancel your booking, you can go somewhere else if you can't wait".
I was shocked with the response we got from her and then she started insulting me to my family members saying I was being rude and mean for asking her "where is my table I booked with you and confirmed"? She continued with turning to my family members and asking the question " Can I speak to someone with common sense and not her (while pointing at me) because she is mean"?.
I felt insulted, disrespected and downright belittled by Eve and then to find out that she was the owner of this place with her husband I was absolutely discussed with their service.
I walked out of the restaurant to see some of my other family members waiting for the table to be sorted. And thought we are not giving this place one dime. I walked down to Chong-co, and thankful they could fit us in on the short notice. 👏🏼
When I came back to let my family know we were leaving she stood at the door saying "Bye you troublesome people, your not welcome here". I replied to her saying " that was extremely rude of you and very disrespectful of you".
If I could leave no star I would, heck I would of even say a -5 that's how bad Eve was tonight to my family and me.
Based on her petty responses to her other customer's reviews. Tell us that she needs help with how to run her own business. This place needs to shut down. I highly don't recommend this place to anyone at all.
Save your self the insult and the disappoint for your events and book elsewhere. I'm so grateful to Chong co Foreshore who happily moved mountains to take my big family group booking tonight.
Eve, you need to listen to your husband or enrol yourself into a management course because lady you 100% need it. It isn't a lie.
Never will I come back. This was my first time coming to your restaurant and will be my last. For all my family members and...
Read moreSammy's Kitchen has long been a staple of the Canberra dining scene, known as one of the best Chinese/Malaysian restaurants in the state. Sammy's@Foreshore is the second iteration of Sammy's Kitchen (well, third, if you include Timmy's Kitchen) and it's arguably better in every way. Situated on the waterfront of Lake Burley Griffin, Sammy's@Foreshore is a delightfully modern and luxurious restaurant, with spacious seating that caters for small groups and large. It's an upscale-yet-casual place, suitable for business dinners and impromptu meals alike. The cuisine is not your "average Australian Chinese", rather it's heavily influenced by Chinese Malaysian flavours and regional favourites. Locally-famous dishes include the Penang Style Char Kway Teo, Sambal Seafood and the Crispy Salted Whitebait. It's worth noting that all your old favourites are available, too, such as Sweet & Sour Pork, Beef in Black Bean Sauce and so on. No matter which dishes you select, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of flavour and ingredients that comprise them. Wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks are plentiful, with a great selection to choose from. Of particular note is the Asahi Dark, which (along with regular Asahi) is available on tap from the bar. Unlike many restaurants these days, the drinks are not overpriced at all. The staff at Sammy's@Foreshore are very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed. Diners are never made to feel as though they're being rushed through their meal (which is a particular bugbear of mine when it comes to many Chinese restaurants) and whilst the meals come out very quickly, you can always request that they be staggered in order to give you more time between courses. All up, Sammy's@Foreshore is a great dining experience, in a lovely setting with amazing food and faultless staff. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. It's definitely my favourite Chinese restaurant...
Read moreThe owner of the restaurant (Eve) completely ruined my big sisters graduation dinner. My sister booked a table for our family a week in advance. The restaurant did not call to confirm the booking. My sister received a call from the owner Eve during her graduation ceremony… of course she was unable to answer at the time. Once the ceremony was complete my sister immediately called them back (30 minutes prior to the booking). Eve had called to inform my sister that she had to leave early as she had booked another group at our table. My sister said that she would like to stay longer than two hours as our family wanted to comfortably enjoy our dinner and have a couple celebratory drinks. This should have been more than acceptable seeing as the booking was made a week in advance and was made for the extended evening. The owner refused my sisters attempts to enjoy her graduation evening and said that we will be kicked out when our time is up unless the next group of people are running late, which they were not. Her attitude, disrespect and complete lack of customer service completely appalled all of us and almost brought my sister to tears. Instead of enjoying our evening in celebration of my sisters 5 years of university we are currently sitting at home feeling extremely frustrated and helpless over the situation. The only thing the owner Eve cared about was making more money rather than making her customers feel welcomed or to have a good experience. The rest of the staff were lovely, in particular we were very pleased with Drew and his above and beyond attitude to help lift our spirits after the situation Eve had put us in.
Regards, A group of very disappointing customers who will never be returning to...
