First off, this is not particularly about this one restaurant but it is part of it. None of the "Japanese" restaurants I've gone to feel like a Japanese restaurant in ACT so far. No one is shouting "welcome" and "thank you" in Japanese when customers come and go. They are still professional at making sushi regardless of that. No green tea is served. There are not many choices on both the belt nor the menu, but there is still something special. The "pizza" sushi is somewhat interesting to us. Our stomachs only have enough space for 8 dishes. The place is well cleaned and spacious. The food is far better than those chained sushi shops. Just don't try to compare it with anything in the higher rank.

Okay food that you could probably get for cheaper at a sushi chain - we probably won’t be back because the place was really cold inside and we were put off by this rubbish box next to us which was used to dump used chopsticks and serviettes while we were eating. For some reason it also took a long time to get someone’s attention to count our plates so we could pay the bill (between 7:30pm and 7:45pm tonight). This was despite there being only two other tables present at the time - it seemed like the only staff member on the floor was occupied with wiping tables even though no one was walking in.

I wanted to give 3.5 stars. Seafood is good, they didn't smell or look bad. It's not amazing, but it's good enough as there are not many Sushi train restaurants in Canberra. If you want to order something from the menu other than the ones on the sushi train, you just need to tell the chefs what you want without hesitation as they will rarely acknowledge you wanting to order if you are quiet.

To be clear, this is a Chinese sushi bar. It’s a cheap copy of real Japanese food and is probably OK for locals who don’t know any better. The difference lies in the quality of food and service. I would call this an authentic Chinese waidi (small town) dining experience. The staff are not intentionally rude, it’s just that this level of service is considered adequate (in China).

The open counter kitchen looked cluttered and dirty. They didn’t have any fresh Salmon - the most basic foundation for any sushi bar. 2 out of 3 chairs were broken. Even in Shanghai this place would not fly.

In Japanese sushi bars, when the chef brings out fresh Salmon they make an announcement in Japanese to the customers before they slice it up. Authentic sushi chefs acknowledge the customer and will gladly prepare new dishes on request TO PROVE IT IS FRESH. This aiyi however was busy smothering cheap rice dishes with sauce and stacking plates on top of each other even though I was the only customer in there. I’ve never seen dishes stacked up in an empty sushi bar. Very strange as the whole point of sushi is freshness! When I asked why they don’t have fresh Salmon, the aiyi made the excuse “because our supplier already cuts it”. Really? Or is the aiyi not qualified to cut Salmon sashimi?

If you want authentic Japanese food or just decent sushi, avoid this place. Their “Cha Bu Duo” (close enough) attitude of this place is not good enough for Kingston. They get one star for at least cleaning...

I would call it a country Aussie/Chinese sushi. Definitely not Japanese sushi. Too much sauce, too much mayonnaise, raw fish selection was so limited (salmon, tuna, kingfish) Most items on offer were covered in oil or rolled with avo. Some raw fish we so badly and thinly sliced.

We gave up on sushi and tried to order karaage don (fried chicken bowl), the staff just said "karaage don?" to me and went into the kitchen, food didn't come out for a while, which made us wonder if they actually had our order. When it came finally, it was rice, chopped boiled cabbage (not even thinly sliced, chopped like 5mm thickness) with chicken on top. No sauce. Even my 13 yo daughter can do better... especially for the time taken. Chicken was ok, freshly fried. Rice was pretty bad, cheap dry medium grain. Not the grade of rice you would have at a restaurant thats supposed to be serving sushi.

The plastic covers on sushi looked old and not so clean. The bowl we asked for sharing the chicken was not even dried properly. No one greeted when we walked in. They did not offer any water. No service whatsoever. When we were paying, one of the chef guys was handling cash with his gloves on. I assume he would have gone back inside the counter and started making sushi with the same gloves on, which is soooo bad.

It is m shocking to see they call themselves a sushi restaurant and people here give more than 4 stars. Way overpriced for...

I've been a regular at SUSHI GO for a while now, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The prices are incredibly fair, especially considering the current inflation. It's refreshing to see a restaurant that values its customers enough to keep their prices stable.

The service team here is outstanding. Every time I visit, I’m greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. The staff is not only friendly but also extremely dedicated, always ensuring that every customer has a great experience. They’re approachable, attentive, and quick to assist with any requests.

The quality of the sushi is top-notch, with a fantastic variety rolling by on the sushi train. It's clear that the team takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every detail. If you're looking for delicious sushi at a fair price with excellent service, SUSHI GO is the...
