It is not what it used to be, and I dont think we'll go back. Food is ok, but no longer great. The service is friendly but not attentive, and the music was too loud to hold a conversation.
I've been to CJs several times over the years, but hadn't been in over a year. 6 of us went for a meal on Friday and were, sadly disappointed. It has dropped in quality across the board and the there are now many better versions of every aspect of what CJs is offering.
You can get better food at several places with 10 minutes. The $25 burgers are small, and the double beef one was dry and cold. The chips were overcooked and dry. Pizzas seemed cheap, topping only covering 2/3 of the area. The pot pie lacked any real flavour.
The staff are smiling and friendly but not well trained. The customer is no longer right. I ordered a 'Cab Sav' and was all but ridiculed by the staff who "hadn't heard it called that before". Didn't have Bundy, which is a sin at a "pub". Got offered bacardi or spiced rum options.
We tried to have a conversation at our table at the far end from the live singer, but couldn't hear each other talk. I asked the manager to turn the music down, but other than rolling his eyes, nothing happened.
For a place that serves food that you eat with your hands, it surprised me I had to get up and ask for napkins. Wait staff never checked on us, being focussed on delivering other meals.
Sad, but it's become a 'vanilla' pub...
Read moreI’d heard mixed reviews about Casey Jones Pub, so since I was planning a work social event, I thought I’d check it out for myself. We went on a Saturday, and overall, the vibe was great — definitely has the look and feel of a pub.
Service, however, felt a bit unfriendly and disconnected - The food was just dropped on the table with no smile, acknowledgment, or conversation, I get that it was busy but really doesn't take must to be a bit friendly and welcoming. Another downside was the table clearing — there were dirty tables left uncleared for ages, including one right in front of us that sat untouched the entire time we were there, which was pretty off-putting when you’re trying to enjoy your meal.
On the food side, I quite enjoyed my steak — not extraordinary but satisfying. My husband liked his seafood pasta as well. The standout was the French martini — whoever made it clearly knows how to mix a great cocktail!
Overall, it has a good atmosphere, but service and table clearing could definitely use...
Read morePre-covid, I had no complaints regarding anything really when it came to Casey Jones. Since covid-19 has hit, I have continued to visit Casey Jones. During covid I have entered and waited for a good 5-10 minutes without any staff even on the level, yet alone waiting for customers at the door. This evening I arrived for my booking, made days in advance, 15 minutes early (to leave time for the 10 minutes of not being acknowledged). Waited a good 10 minutes at the door, as expected, to be lead to a table surrounded by booth walls and the facility walls in a corner.
After requesting to be moved to our usual level - the bar surrounded by tvs (we only book when the footy is on, purely to watch it, therefore we are always seated up there), we were told plainly that it was booked out. It being only 15 minutes from kick off, really wasn’t ideal in a family of footy fanatics. Shout out to the gungahlin lakes club for the prompt seating in front of the game and...
