I have never liked Indian food in my life. It always tasted the same to me, cardamom, cumin, fennel seeds and heaps of turmeric. All looks the same, a thick sauce with a meat or cheese. That WAS the concept I had about Indian food. Absolutely love the culture and the people, but the food has never been my cup of tea. My neighbors next door from South India said: "Go to Spice Affair, it is very good, you will like it". Ok, I ordered their pistachio chicken...(silence yes that was it)... It was like that famous scene from Ratatouille when the little rat is smelling and tasting all the flavors in excitement, YES, IS THAT GOOD. Today I went again and tried their vegetarian dishes to throw a curve ball to my senses and boy! they were even better than the chicken. Try the Aloo Tikki entree and paneer chettinad. My wife asked for chicken Korma and Chicken Tikka, naan freshly baked. Seriously, it this good. Make sure to do a reservation because it fills up quickly. Try it and make your own judgement. On top of the craftsmanship put on the food, the service makes you feel like you are their most appreciated customer, then you look around and realize that everyone is being treated in such caring and special way. AGAIN, YES IS THAT GOOD. I do recommend to sit in to fully appreciate the experience, take away is great but this type of food (as all food) is better experienced when dinning in. Give them a chance to change your mind as they did to mine. Looking forward to my next visit. I hope my...
Read moreWe have thought about trying this restaurant for a couple of years now but since I’m super fussy about my butter chicken & would only eat it from 1 restaurant in Canberra I was sceptical. Have tried lots of other Indian restaurants in Canberra but haven’t liked any of them. So I had messaged them on facebook to ask about the butter chicken & told them how I like it. They responded very promptly with how it was made, so we went in & ordered a takeaway. The owner (I didn’t catch his name) was a lovely man who was telling us that everything was freshly made to order not pre- made. That was impressive on its own, but what was even more impressive was he gave me a sample of the butter chicken sauce. It was ahhmazing! What a lovely surprise that was! I also ordered chicken tikka for a starter, that was the nicest tikka I have ever eaten in my life, wow just wow! My partner had papdi chaat that they loved & the chicken korma. Needless to say the butter chicken was creamy, spicy & the chicken was super tender. Next time I’m very keen to book a table & eat in. What lovely welcoming atmosphere, & I say to the lovely owner…. You are stuck with us now, it’s safe to say we will be...
