Wow, words cannot describe how bad the customer service has gone with this establishment. We have been loyal customers for many years and haven’t normally had issues. However, at 4:30pm we placed an order, yes via Menu Log but bare with me…. The order was due for delivery at 5:25pm. Jasmine House called us after realising THEY messed up the order, (chicken and vegetables was replaced with chilli beef), and asked if that was ok. The answer was ‘No’ as the chicken was ordered for children who aren’t fond of beef or chilli. They said they would remake the chicken dish. A short time later the order with the incorrect dish arrived. Problems happen, Ok so far….. 30 mins later and no corrected dish, we call Jasmine House back. We were told they were waiting on the driver to collect the food. Another 30 mins later with no food we make another call and was told the driver collected it 15-20 mins prior. Now, I will add, we live a very short distance from this business. The person on the phone called the driver who said they would be a further 10 mins away.
With now over an hour past due time, hungry children were fed alternative things. This was explained and a refund, partial for the missing dish at least was requested. This was refused and pushed back to Menu Log to fix, remember, Jasmine House called us for their stuff up, not Menu Log. The supervisor was spoken to who refused to provide their name, refused any form of refund, refused to provide owner name or a way to contact to lodge a complaint and refused to pass our details to owner for a call back. Even acknowledging the business arrangement they have with Menu Log, they refused to take it up with Menu Log and continued to push us to make the complaint to Menu Log ourselves. Consumer rights were explained however fell on deaf ears and full refusal to assist in anyway. The missing dish turned up at 7:00pm. Not worried about refund now as we did eventually receive the food we paid for, however I cannot in good conscience, continue to support such abysmal business practices and treatment. I will not be a return customer, there are plenty of alternative restaurants in the area serving...
Read moreObviously one is not expecting haute cuisine at Jasmine House. Enter a world of orange walls, orange napkins and orange lanterns. I can remember when Jasmine House used to be an Indian restaurant with peacock signage. ( That's how long I've lived in Canberra, depressing). The interior remains green, orange and white, just like the Indian flag.
There is a steady stream of ubereats driver pickups. The smell of Chinese 5 spice hangs in the air, although I'd be hard pressed to describe it as "fragrant".
The restaurant is empty, bar a family of 6, and another group of 4. A little boy proclaimed "I love fried rice." Good for you, buddy!
Don't think you can sit just anywhere! The waitress directs me to my assigned table for 1 (since obviously it's very crowded and there are no free tables ) and tells me I've grabbed the wrong menu. She brings out a water bottle and a glass - smells musty.
The menu highlights regional Chinese cuisine. There's also some Thai style dishes. ( Eg Spicy Thai King Prawn dong yum soup, Thai Style Chicken Noodle Soup, Thai Style Massaman curry, Thai style Chiang Mai Curry) I also see "Singapore chilli" & "Malaysian" something.
I order special fried rice ( refreshingly ordinary, could do with more msg) and a Thai style pork n basil dish ( definitely not Thai!) Rice and pork for $35, not cheap. No condiments are available, not even chilli oil. The waitress says she can get me fresh chili, then proceeds to not get me any. Previously I've ordered the duck pancakes ( bit salty) and the fried squid entree. ( Very oily).
Err.... Definitely...
Read moreWent on Thursday with two kids for dinner! We were second table when we arrived and only the last one until we finished! It was very quiet place, the waitress was super rude, dominating and not friendly at all. The way she talked to kids was humiliating and she wouldn’t let us say anything if we didn’t get the thing we asked for! We asked for no ice in our ice-tea still we got big chucks! She didn’t bother fixing rather said we never did mention it to her! Her tone was very bad that we couldn’t even dare ask her to fix it. She said the minimum spent is $18 per person Inc child We ended up paying $93 for one adult and two kids! It’s overpriced restaurant, poor service and small portions! Do not recommend at all One star is lowest they can have, wish there was an option...
