My recent visit to Sharon May's Filipino Cuisine was a total game-changer. From the moment we walked in, the warm, lively atmosphere made it feel like home. The dishes were a feast, starting with all the tempting desserts in the glass cabinet. My whole family loved the Bulalo, a comforting beef shank soup with a rich, savoury broth and tender meat that practically melted in your mouth. Then, there was the Lechon, perfectly roasted with crispy skin and juicy, flavorful meat, paired with either a tangy vinegar dipping sauce or Mang Tomas sauce that elevated each bite. The Shanghai spring rolls were crispy, golden, and addictive, and the Tapsilog, a combo of marinated beef, garlic fried rice, and a fried egg—was satisfying in the best way possible.
We also indulged in some delicious Filipino desserts. The Iskrambol, a refreshing shaved ice treat with syrup, condensed milk, and chocolate, was a sweet blast from the past. But the real showstopper was the Ube Flan, a creamy, smooth flan with the perfect balance of sweet and earthy ube flavoor. Every bite was pure bliss, and honestly, I can’t wait to go back for more. It’s a must-visit if you’re driving to Canberra, whether you're a visitor or a local. A true Filipino restaurant with a clean atmosphere, friendly staff, and quality food...
Read moreIf you’re looking for the ultimate lechon belly experience, this is it! From the moment we opened the tray, the aroma of perfectly roasted pork filled the room — it was absolutely mouthwatering. The skin was incredibly crispy and golden, just how real lechon should be. Every slice was juicy, tender, and packed with authentic Filipino flavor. You can really tell that it was marinated and cooked with love and tradition.
The meat had just the right amount of seasoning — not too salty, but rich enough to bring out the best in every bite. The fat was rendered beautifully, making it melt-in-your-mouth without being greasy. It paired so well with the fresh greens underneath, and would be even more perfect with vinegar or lechon sauce on the side.
This lechon belly brought back so many memories of fiestas and family gatherings in the Philippines. It’s a must-have for any celebration or special event, or even just when you’re craving comfort food done right. We received so many compliments from our guests, and everyone went back for seconds (and thirds!).
Highly recommended — you won’t be disappointed. This is hands down the best lechon belly I’ve had...

Visited Canberra and Sharon May’s was recommended via Google Search! Not having a Filo restaurant close to you makes you crave a little taste of home.
I ordered Tapsilog, Tocilog for my husband and sago at gulaman. The All Day Silog options were amazing and for the huge portion, it is reasonably priced! You get a good portion of salad, rice, meat and egg, plus a side of vinegar, which in my opinion, is a well balance meal!
They have a wide variety of food on the menu at very affordable prices. They serve mains, desserts, and drinks. A lot of choices for every one :)
Sharon May’s gives a cozy vibe. A playlist of OPM’s (Original Pilipino Music) can be heard on the background. It’s decorated with Anahaws, and Nipa grass, materials that are known by Filipinos, used to make bahay kubo, a stilt house indigenous to the PH.
Sharon May’s is located in Gungahlin, north of Canberra. There is parking right in front of Sharon May’s which is very convenient! So for those who will be staying around the area,...
