New and improved southern cross club at Tuggeranong definitely has not yet occurred, while the place looks lovely it makes absolutely no sense. To start with we asked the front reception where we needed to go to find out where we were sitting as we had not been there since the āupgradeā which resulted in us doing nearly a full loop before finding a counter to only then back track 3/4 of the way around to where we were seated & while I understand this may not be a big issue for a lot of people it is when you have mobility issues. We then had to go searching for menus as there are none on tables and no staff in the area to ask. Couldnāt find a kids menu so searched on line for that and found 5 different types of menus which is a bit confusing but okay. The order process⦠waited for someone to turn up at the counter as there is now fancy table service which is great except for those not at those tables. No worries except when the staff are frankly rude and abrupt. 25 minutes later, not a terrible wait time on a weekend so prompts thereā¦. The last person at our table to order gets there cold meal, next ones come out 10 minutes later and the first meals ordered come out 10 minutes after that unfortunately pretty much all cold which works great for the kids meal but not so much for the adults. Medium fillet comes out rare - photo doesnāt do justice, $30 chicken hollandaise (all the prices were a bit over the top for what you get and we are members) is the size of my 4 year olds hand, dry and cold. I donāt even want to talk about the bar situation in relation to seating and how shocking it was with service. The only redeeming part was the refund of 2 of the 6 meals. 4 of the meals were barely eaten and only because medication had been taken and food had to be had within a time frame. Overall the place it self looks great, a bit busy looking but still nice, great concept ideas but poor execution particularly with staff that move with what seems no purpose and as if they are walking a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have been coming here for years as it is our local club and the food is reasonably priced and service is always great.
We came for dinner tonight and the first 2 encounters with the staff were quite unpleasant. The first when signing in, the lady on the desk was quite dismissive who then sent us upstairs to the bistro. This was the first time we have attended since the bistro moved upstairs due to the renovations. Once we got upstairs, we asked the bar staff if this is where we have dinner and the young girl at the bar responded with āyesā. We then stood there looking at her while she is looking at us waiting for her to maybe point us in the direction of where we can sit and order food. I then said āwe havenāt been here before, where do we go?ā And she then pointed at the entrance door as if we were stupid for not knowing?
After heading through the door we were seated and viewed the menu to decide what to order. The first thing I noticed was the increase in prices. As I said, we come here regularly and items like the lamb cutlets have increased by $5-10. We still ordered our regulars in hopes that the quality of the food may be better with the price increase. When our meals came out, this was definitely not the case. Very much the same quality of food, which is quite average but with a higher price.
Quite a disappointing experience tonight, for a place we have loved to come to over the years. Many new staff who donāt hold the same value of service as some as the old timers we have come to know. Iām sad to say we will most likely be looking for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThought weād go in for a quick meal. Boy were we wrong. I will grant it was a Saturday but 15mins in the queue to order, because they only had one register opened followed by 57mins to deliver food is far, far too long for pub fare. And thatās all it is, pub fare which is all I was expecting.
The wait was compounded by one of the wait staff telling us 3minutes for food at about 40 mins into wait. Then we sent two of the wait staff in search of the food. Neither came back. The staff who bought the meal eventually could not explain the wait time and by that stage we didnāt even want to know why tables that came in and sat down later got served first.
On to the food. Food was merely okay. Mediterranean strudel was reported as below average but the plate was inundated with salad. The brisket was over rubbed with spice and quite fatty. On the plus side vegetables were not from the freezer and were as plentiful as the salad if you like broccoli. The sliders were merely okay with the pulled pork one being overwhelmed by its mayo, the beef one being undercooked but reasonably tasty and the chicken one being a bit bland.
If you are after pub food you will get it, along with several tvs with of sports but donāt go if they are busy unless you feel...
