I arrived at the restruant 1230 on a Saturday, there were 4 tables full. The owner and waitress acknowledge we were there but they didnt give us the menu after 10mins of sitting down, my husband had to get the menu from the front desk. We received our food at 1320 surley but slowly it came out. Quailty and portion of the dishes are top standard, tasteful/satistfying. I can not fault Mings. It's one of the best in Woden/Phillip area if you want Malaysian/Chinese food. This is restruant is my local and I just wish that the owner hired more cooks on a Saturday to avoid waiting for so long for the food to come out. A guy came into the resturant for a pick up order but waited 40mins. He wasnt pleased even though the owner (lady with the short hair) apologised. You want quality tasting food , this is the place but just make sure you are prepared to wait. The lady with the short hair also has a sour face, she doesnt smile much but the food...

Please note I am reviewing for the Malaysian dishes - not the Chinese dishes, I get the impression their Chinese dishes are good.

So I went along to try some Malaysian, being a huge Belachan lover, I ordered the Belachan shrimp fried chicken and curry puffs. I have cooked Belachan eggplant before and tried it at other restaurants- it has a deliciously strong prawn & chilli like pungent taste. The dish at this restaurant came out dry with no dipping sauce (not even with sambal) and tasted completely bland, like KFC popcorn chicken without the spices. I thought they'd given me the plain fried chicken, but the hostess insisted it had belachan "in the chicken". They couldn't even give me sambal chilli when I asked. I ate half of it being hungry, got charged full price despite my polite displeasure, and left.

I don't think they know how to cook Malaysian food. I think it is a Chinese restaurant . Will not be returning there for...

Got recommendations to go to Ming's from a friend. It was in a convenient location with sufficient parking out front and back.

The staff and the management were very friendly and loved kids. They had ther own kids and did bring a very family oriented feel to the whole visit. Taking care of the kids and keeping them entertained while the adults ordered everything on the specials menu with the exception of the barramundi and prawns. Both dishes that I sorely wanted to try but the kids couldn't eat them so we skipped it.

The amount of food that came, the flavour, the colors, the smell and the satisfaction after every bite was simply marvellous ; good amount of food served, wholesome authentic flavour, beautiful colors with authentic scent of the origin of the food.

Wll go again and make sure we order the barramundi and prawns. Even if I'm the only one eating both dishes!

Unfortunately no pictures this time, I was...

Just had an unforgettable dining experience at Ming's Restaurant in Phillip! My family and I had ordered from Ming's a few times via Door Dash, and one day we decided to dine in, and we were not disappointed! Their salt and pepper pork chops are a must-try – crispy, flavourful, and absolutely divine. The mixed veggies and tofu offer a perfect balance of freshness and taste. The chilli beef is packed with spice and flavour, while the combination chow mein is a delightful mix of textures and tastes. And let's not forget the special fried rice, which is rich and savoury without being oily or too salty. Every dish was cooked to perfection, showcasing the chef's skill and passion. Service was also topnotch, with complimentary kropek to start the meal and a cosy and welcoming ambience. Highly recommend Ming’s for anyone craving top-notch Chinese cuisine in Southside Canberra!

It was quiet on Sunday night. Food was tasty and the service was attentive. Laksa dumpling, is a little on sweet side, had some carrot in it, very fragrant and the dumpling went well. Belacan prawns were on point and went well with plain rice as did the Eggplant and chicken hot pot. you can smell the cooking wine and being in hot pot, keeps you warm on Canberra night.
