Visited this restaurant on the last night of our holiday as it was getting 4 star reviews.
Inside was clean and nicely Thai themed. The music was Temu hits of the 50s and 60s, no original artists.
We had 2 mixed entrees and they were probably the best ones I've ever had. 5/5.
We ordered the combination pad Thai and combination laksa. The pad Thai had one prawn and not a lot of chicken or beef. I'm used to having them with bean sprouts and nuts sprinkled on them with a slice of lemon. This version didn't.
The laksa was ok but we paid $6 for one prawn to be added to make it a combination style.
We received a small bottle of water on arrival to share and it was never replaced even after it was taken away with the empty entree plates. We weren't checked on again and I didn't bother flagging the solo waitress.
The reviews were mixed so I guess tonight...
Read moreIt was OK. Staff were nice. Its quaint little place thats not much to look at, I was just hoping they were passionate about food without being flashy on presentation. But no.... Points to note are:
Laksa comes with wheat noodles (2 minute noodles) not egg noodles as they say on the menu. If I wanted 2 minute noodles I would stay home and have a $1 pack of mei goreng.
The laksa is just a yellow curry. The veg it comes with are pretty poor quality, and it needs a big dose of lime to balance the intense saltiness.
And the stir fry just tastes like one you would get from a Chinese at a Bowlo.
This place would be fine if it was in one of those tiny holiday towns with one restaurant. But there are so many other better options in Dubbo. I would say to the chef, go see what the others in town are doing and take some notes. There is plenty of room for...
Read moreI went out for dinner and decided to dine at the Rose Garden Thai, it wasn’t busy so I was seated quickly, I ordered the chilli basil beef chicken and cashews with steamed rice, my drink was lemon lime and bitters, the food was quick in being served, the quantity of rice was disappointing as I was given a large scoop from a bucket of cooked rice not the usual large bowl of rice to use throughout the meal, there are plenty of vegetables in the dishes however the chef tends to be somewhat over zealous in the use of the Thai fish sauce in the dishes resulting in them being on the salty side, the deco is very tasteful, the music is 70’s, other that the very minor issues with the food, the staff are friendly and courteous, I highly recommend this...
