I went out with 8 friends to the Dunsborough Chinese, this must be the worst restaurant I have visited in a long time. Ok I know it is Dunsborough, so I was not expecting 5 star Chinese, but this was like a skit out of Faulty Towers TV episode, firstly the staff were ignorant of what they were serving, this was unbelievable! the waitress put the first meal down explaining what it was, but when putting the second meal down she just said âI got no idea what this is and walked offâ well we all just burst outlaughing, but this is where it just got worse! the service girls took offense to this and proceeded to give service that well was out of this world, they were even playing with the fish in the tank ( feeding them and not one washed their hands after) I mean so poor it just was not funny making it plain they did not want to serve us , the owner was oblivious to it as she was cooking in the kitchen ( was made her very aware at the end when we called her over before we paid the bill) The prawn crackers were very rubbery and possibly cooked the day before definitely not fresh or a few hrs old. The 4 plates of special fried rice came out first, then 15 mins later the first meal appeared which was mine and I had not ordered rice as I had noodles, the last dish ( mango Chicken ) came out 25mins later we had all finished or left the food due to the poor quality. The 2 chicken curryâs were basically frozen peas, carrots and god knows what else, the sauce was the packet stuff curry mix you buy at Coles and just pored over the boiled chicken. (unacceptable) The Mi Hokkien was just a wash with soy sauce and not much else, very little veg and zero flavour unless you enjoy soy sauce. (massive portion though) The beef black been was the same sauce as the Mi Hokkien but even blander (did not think that was possible) The combination satay again was just packet sauce pored over the plate of veg and meat (unbelievable & unacceptable)) The Mango Chicken came out last so late we had all finished and her rice was stone col, again the sauce appeared to just be poured over the boiled chicken. (unacceptable) My wifeâs combination Kwei Teo was the best of the lot and was enjoyable. The Chicken with Cashew Nuts was told was ok this is a nothing dish most of the time anyways so I will not comment. All in all the meal cost was $300 and to say I was unhappy paying the bill would be an understatement. All the owner could say she has nothing but great comments on her food and sorry we did not enjoy our food!!!. Lastly my wife wanted to take some of her food home only to be told there was a 50c charge well that just capped it off!!! I would give this restaurant a miss if you like fresh veg,. There are, I am now told some really nice Asian restaurants in Dunsborough but you have to book in advance, this should have been a warning sign as the restaurant was half empty for all the time we were there 6.30 to 8.30 on a Friday night I...
Read moreWe walked into the restaurant around 7:55â8:00 PM and asked for a table for two. One of the staff asked the manager(girl at the counter), who seemed to be instructing the two younger waitresses. We were told the kitchen was closing in 8 minutes and only takeaway was available, while tables were still occupiedâone of which had just ordered.
We agreed to takeaway and paid. While waiting, I asked about their usual hours and was told they were closing early due to the ownerâs wife being unwell, which is understandable. However, they kept taking phone orders. When our food was ready, no one called usâwe had to ask. Then, we were told we hadnât paid, and had to show them proof of payment.
I have been to hundreds of Chinese restaurants before and unfortunately the food was disappointing. The sizzle steak tasted boiled and lacked flavour, and the egg fried rice was plain with frozen vegetables. While the two younger waitresses were polite, the overall service was unprofessional. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the manager needs to handle...
Read moreLady staff was very rude with extremely bad service! We (3 families) sat on 3 separate tables as all of us had young kids, so it is easier to feed the kids.
The staff insisted we had to sit on one big table so it is EASIER for her, when the restaurant only had ONE table occupied!
She said commented we were âannoyingâ and complained to her boss. Her boss came out and we explained the situation to the boss and he agreed that we can seat on 3 separate tables.
Thatâs not it! While we decided to proceed to order, SHE kept on rambling on us being on 3 separate tables STILL and that it would have been EASIER for her. How ridiculous!
In the end, we were frustrated and decided dine elsewhere as her service was the worst I have ever seen!
Definitely not a restaurant I will ever visit...
