Bintang in Vic Park is truly a hidden gem! I’ve known about them for a while and honestly wanted to gatekeep this spot, but I can’t anymore because both the food and the staff are absolutely wonderful. My husband always orders the ikan bakar with belacan and Chilli kangkong, and the way they cook the fish is simply addictive – the flavours are out of this world! As for me, I’m a huge fan of their bakso campur, which I customize with my own mix of spice, vinegar, chilli, and soy sauce. It’s a dish that hits the spot whether it's summer or winter.
Their chilli grilled prawns – absolutely amazing! The sambal they use is a bit different, with a lemongrass citrus infusion that adds a fresh, zesty twist. It’s such a unique and yummy flavour. The chicken satay sticks, while different from how my Singaporean side makes them, are still delicious with that smoky charcoal taste, all smothered in their rich peanut sauce. It’s a total YUM!
What really makes Bintang special is that it’s family-owned, and I love supporting places like this. It’s the kind of restaurant where you know it’s good when you see the family’s kids helping out or a child in the corner doing homework. That warm, homey vibe, paired with incredible food, keeps me coming...
Read moreBintang cafe used to be one of our favourite hang out spots for over 10 years. However, it is soooo... bad now! The price has gone up significantly, plus they have 10% weekend surcharge now! I understand prices have gone up everywhere, so it's not the increase of price that I have issue with, but the quality of the foods have gone down significantly, the service is terrible, and the venue is dirty (sticky table, yuck...). Today we ordered mee goreng special, she brought us nasi goreng special & insisted that's what we ordered! I showed her the receipt that clearly shows mee goreng, only then she said sorry & offered to replace it! We were hungry so we just took the nasi. It wasn't great. It was really dry. We also ordered gado2 which was also below average. The potato tasted like it was on its way to go bad. The tofu tasted like it has been in a fridge for a long time. The peanut sauce tasted so bland. We ordered coconut juice, it took forever to arrive. And we were disappointed that it's one of those frozen coconut desserts sold in asian supermarket for $2. They charged $6. Overall it was a terrible experience. We won't go back there again. Really sad to see Bintang Cafe goes...

I visited Bintang Cafe last weekend and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with warm, friendly service and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The decor is charming—loved the wooden touches and traditional Indonesian wall art, which gave it a homely vibe.
The food was the real highlight. I ordered the Nasi Campur and my friend had the Beef Rendang—both were full of authentic flavor and generous in portion. The beef was perfectly tender and the sambal added just the right amount of kick. You can really tell the dishes are made with care and love.
Service was quick despite the place being quite busy, and the staff checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Prices were reasonable too, especially considering the portion sizes and quality—$20–$25 per dish is fair for what you get.
Would definitely recommend this place if you’re craving real Indonesian food. Great for a casual meal, brunch with friends, or even a quiet solo bite. Already planning my next visit!
