I had made a booking last night for 7pm, and turned up to the restaurant at 7pm. Spot on time. When I entered I was standing in the middle of the restaurant and I wasn't greeted or acknowleged by staff for 10 minutes, but rather ignored as staff members all didn't make eye contact with me.
As I was waiting to be acknowledged - another four people entered and pushed past me to the front of house manager. The front of house manager seated them, and I thought surely she'll seat me next as I'm still standing in the middle of the restaurant. The front of house manager, who hasn't greeted or acknowledged me, and was avoiding making eye contact with me then disappeared to the kitchen. At this stage I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that I had made a booking, was on time for the booking, and it had been ten minutes of me standing in the middle of the resturant and I hadn't been greeted, acknowledged or seated yet - so I had to go to the kitchen to finally get the attention of the front of house manager.
Turns out they didn't have a table ready for me yet (though they hadn't explained this - they had just ignored me standing in the middle of the restaurant).
I had booked a 2 seater, and they were holding out on seating me at their only available table which was a 4 seater.. They finally showed some compassion and seated me at the 4 seater - as I think they realised how unnacceptable their behavior was. Need I remind you - I had a booking....
This experience was so unpleasant that I made the wise decision to not dine with them last night.
I am a very understanding person, and if the staff had taken the time to greet me on arrival and explain to me that the table wasn't ready yet - I would have been very understanding with that. But standing in the middle of a restaurant and being ignored for 10 minutes is unnacceptable, and quite a humiliating experience for me.
I was promised a gift voucher as an apology, and when I checked my inbox the day after - they had forgotten to send it through. I emailed them to chase it up and also ask for the owner's contact details, so I could make a formal complaint of how awful the service was.
Imagine my surprise when I find out the front of house manager who ignored me on the night, was actually the owner: Paige.
I had a bit of an email back and forth with Paige as I wanted to know what happened that night - and I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but she seemed to be clasping at straws and silly excuses. At the end of day isn't it customer service 101 to greet customers as they walk in to a restaurant, and also to have a table ready for them if they made a booking?

Read moreThe Prophet Lebanese Cafe in East Victoria Park is a cherished spot in Perth, known for its authentic Lebanese cuisine and warm hospitality. On a recent weeknight visit with a large group, the experience lived up to its strong reputation. The hosts were incredibly accommodating, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
The restaurant itself has a fairly simple interior, but the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. While the decor isn’t overly elaborate, it creates a comfortable space to enjoy a meal. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating, which adds to the relaxed and casual dining experience.
The menu is extensive, offering a range of Middle Eastern favourites. We started with a selection of meze, including smooth and flavourful hommos, smoky baba ghanouj, creamy labneh served with crisp fried bread chips, crunchy falafel, and fresh tabouleh bursting with parsley and lemon. Each dish was well-prepared, highlighting quality ingredients and authentic flavours. The food came out promptly, and the serving sizes were generous, making it perfect for sharing. Everything was simple but done exceptionally well, hitting the spot without any unnecessary frills.
The service was another highlight. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, ensuring that our large group was well looked after. Their warmth and efficiency made the experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant is also BYO, which is a nice touch for those wanting to pair their meal with their own wine or beer.
Overall, The Prophet Lebanese Cafe delivers an excellent dining experience with great food, generous portions, and standout hospitality. It’s a place that feels welcoming whether you’re visiting with a big group or just stopping by for a...
Read moreMy wife and I very often dine in the Victoria Park/East Victoria Park district. Yesterday evening however we decided to venture out to The Prophet Cafe as we've never been there before. Upon our arrival we were greeted and welcomed with a friendly warm smile, incidentally by the owner Page who kindly got us a table for two inspite of heavy bookings. The atmosphere was very pleasant and bustling and the menu had to be explained to us by Page and Ben a very helpful waiter/gentleman. We ordered a vegetarian mixed platter served with Lebanese flat bread and humus. Halva and Lebanese coffee for sweets. We found it an excellent experience as it was our first taste of Lebanese food. Tasty, well presented and deliciously yummo. Next visit will be the flip side of the menu and looking forward to some lamb dishes. I'll definitely recommend this lovely venue to family and friends as we had a very special experience, enjoyable, satisfying and pleasurable. A friendly team with customer focus to satisfy. It's absolutely paramount especially in these challenging and competitive times. Page the owner is a fine example of kindness, attention to detail with a smile, together with a steadfast work ethic. This can be seen by all her hard working, efficient and happy staff, as she leads by a hands on example. Thank you all on behalf of my wife Antoinette and myself Bob for a special evening. See you again soon. Take care. Kind...
