We enjoyed our food, tasted great. Atmosphere was good, some large groups having fun and enjoying themselves. table service is pretty ordinary....you get your food and that was about it. if you can't order via the table thing, you have to order at the counter....they won't take your order at your table. If there's a queue to order you have to get at the back of the line. So your friends ordered via table, you had to order via counter and your meals come 30mins apart. Really.... food tasted good but was oily/greasy (pide) and was light on meat. If you're not one of those large groups it's pretty noisy so be prepared for that. Water...."We don't provide alcohol so we don't have to provide table water. You can buy bottled water if you like." That's their standard response/attitude, which is fine....now that I know, we won't be back (find another eatery in F/T with that attitude....i doubt you will!). To top it off, our server agreed to give our table 2 "free" bottles of water, which we really appreciated. When I went to order and pay at the counter I was charged for the 2 bottles. Lol, like I said....their standard for customer service. Go to....The Deck, any of the 4 or so Chinese Restaurants here, Dragons Den, Si Senorita, Spice Monkey, Kenny's, Wharf St, Paradise, Waterline, Thai 101, Tart, Rock Pool Cafe, Golf Club, Rusty's, Cafe at One Mile, 33 Degrees, Lakes and Ocean, The Belly, Foster Bakery, Lakesway Bakery (actually anywhere else here); and you will be treated with courtesy and respect. Just not at this place. And if it's one of the cafes/restaurants, whether licenced or not....guess what; you get...
Read moreFood ok but the service left a very bad taste. We spent almost $40 on a loaded fries and felafel kebab. Initially ordering was spoken too very rudely. After collecting our order I found my felafel kebab extremely dry, even more disheartening after paying and extra $1 for sauce. Total cost was $14.90 for a wrap with felafel, onion, iceberg lettuce, tomato and garlic sauce with $1 extra for sweet chilli. The flavour and wrap was a lovely taste but was extremely dry due to the minimal sauce. I approached the counter to ask if I could have a little more sauce and was met with contempt and rudeness. Both the lady serving and the male cook made me feel awful even though I approached in a friendly manner. My feed back was met with eye rolls and muttered contempt. I was reluctantly handed a container of yogurt but felt like they were completely aggressive in their manner. Spending that much on a simple lunch with awful customer service makes me rethink ever visiting the venue again, even though the food was enjoyable. Even when we placed our order we were met with rude and obnoxious service. When our meal was ready the woman behind the counter screamed out our name in a very rude manner. I know my review won’t make a difference but as a local and a chef my self at a local business, I know I’d be very upset to know staff treated customers in such a...
Read moreWow! What an absolute hidden gem to find in Forster. Extremely authentic Middle Eastern / Persian cuisine with fanatic flavours and aromas.
Started off with a Gozleme. Now don't get confused by the Gozleme you can get at a show fair. This dish was nicely presented in a set of four large pieces stuffed to the brim with cheese and spinach served with both lemon and a side dip. The side crust of the pastry was fantastic and compliments the filings perfectly.
For main was a mixed grill to share. If you are a guy and you are hungry you could certainly eat one solo. The lamb chucks were generous, the chicken marinated, and the adana well seasoned. I've had quite a few mixed plates from areas in Sydney that specialise in Middle Eastern cuisine. I can honestly say that this is hands down on par with some of the best that I've had. Make sure to get a side order of bread
To finish was Persian tea. Served with a traditional stick with crystalized sugar for stirring it was a fantastic way to finish off the meal. The tea itself was both aromatic and flavourful with no bitterness or harshness to the taste.
Will be making sure to eat here several more times before my trip back home to Sydney. Well done to both the staff and owner for crafting a wonderful restaurant that I will be recommending to all that...
