We recently dined at Mother India Fremantle with great expectations after reading the good reviews. We were a group of 10 including 3 vegetarians. To simplify the ordering, 7 of us agreed to order the $40 banquet which required a minimum of 4 guests. The 3 vegetarians would order a la carte vegetarian dishes. When the manager/owner arrived to take our order, we expressed our wishes and she advised that the whole table would need to order the banquet. They would not entertain separate a la carte dishes as it would be too hard to serve! When we explained that 3 of us were vegetarian, she said some of the main meat/seafood dishes in the banquet could be replaced with vegetarian dishes. What a rip-off paying the same price ($40) for a largely vegetarian banquet. We argued that the menu says a minimum of 4 guests was required for the banquet, hence it should be fine for 7 guests. But she curtly refused. We had no choice but to order a la carte for the whole table, which turned out to be a more expensive option. We had called the previous day to confirm the booking at which point the restaurant confirmed the banquet would be available. We were also disappointed to learn that some of the dishes were not available although it was only 7 pm! They had run out of fish and potatoes! We were however surprised to find a ‘potato party’ in most of the vegetable dishes, including the Pulau rice! The quality of the food was passable but does not warrant the prices being charged. The restaurant is very basic inside and a bit shabby. The poor dining experience has turned us off from ever returning. Give this place a wide berth. P.S The combative nature of the owner’s responses to reviews by other dissatisfied customers speaks volumes doesn’t it?...
Read moreNote: this was ordered through Uber Eats so can’t comment on the restaurant experience itself this time, though we have gone before a few times and was lovely.
Got a free item when ordering online which was great, order placed at 5;17, rang at 6:10pm to see if it was ready. they were very helpful on the phone, but got my order completely mixed up with another person of the same first name. It changed status not long after, hooray!
Unfortunately by the time it got to us it was cold (never using Uber again! Not the restaurants fault), but I’m so disappointed it wasn’t worth the wait.
Butter chicken probably the best, had a good flavour but too spicy for our 5 year old, Chicken Korma was not a hit, we couldn’t taste any real flavour and I bit into something at one point and nearly threw up, still not sure what it was but I don’t think it belonged in there.
I’ve never had to add salt ever to Indian food but today was an exception. I’ve read other negative reviews and have seen people threatened with legal action and told they are lying when they give less than positive reviews, but you need to see the good with the not so good to get a full picture.
Next time we will be...
Read moreIt’s such a shame that their service is terrible and they are soo unbelievably rude because the food is actually good. But they don’t deserve the business.
Placed a pick up order, the woman on the phone was soo abrupt, extremely short and practically yelled at me and slammed the phone down. Then when I went to get it an hour later I gave my name, but no order was found. The lady didn’t admit outright that she never wrote the order down but then asked over and over what I had ordered. She then actually wrote down and told me to wait another 30 minutes. Which I did not. I know they are busy but some customer service wouldn’t go astray and this isn’t the first time having this experience. Never again.
EDIT - Interesting you have said one thing now you changed your review to another. This just proves that you are unprofessional and need to work on your customer service skills. Good food only...
